  • Second Row Headrest Screens in Fabric

Hi, I'm looking for any information on screens built into the first row headrests. I've seen some on ebay (I think Mav installed them) but they are in a leather finish and I'm looking for a fabric finish. I've had quotes from local auto shops but they have come in at about $800 for the pair.

Does anyone have any leads on reasonably priced fabric headrests with built in monitors.

I doubt it would cost that much to get a pair of slip overs made for the ones on ebay. Any good seamstress could knock a pair up I would think or even one of the sheepskin manufactures would be able to do it I reckon.

Was wondering if anyone here has bought the 9.2" Headrest TFT LCD Monitors from Mobileseller8 on ebay (http://tinyurl.com/6bam6b).

If so were you happy with them? Do you know what the screen resolution is?

I plan to hook them up to my Polaris unit and the second input gives the kids to watch their own movies off their iPods. (i.e. son watches DVD from Polaris on his screen, daughter watches her movie on her screen from her ipod).

      Any comments or suggestions welcome.

As a related question. On the VX (with airbags in the seats) how hard is it to get the backs of the front seats, in case we decide on using headrests with the screens built in?

Treane, I recently bought the 9" headrest screens from mobileseller. They look and work great (although I have a GXL with cloth trim and these only come in "leather" trim. I'm going to get the headrest covered later to match my sheepskin seats).

The installation was easy. I have the airbag seats but it was just a matter of unhooking the fabric panel at the rear bottom of seat (there is 2 strings that go to a hook under the seat) and then you have full access to the back of the seat. Drop the heardrest in and the cord appears at the bottom. Literally a 30 second job to fit them.

The hard part is getting 12V power to power the screens. Lucklily I had previously had the auto electrician install some cig lighters in the second row to power kids toys etc so just piggybacked off that

Treane, they are a perfect match for the Ivory leather interior. They have brilliant resolution and built in IR transmitters for the audio. No need to take the backs off the front seats to install them, the cable goes down through the seat.

You will not buy better for the price. If you take a look at this thread you will see what they look like on a VX:

              Thank you Judas1001 and Mav.

I had seen those photos Mav when searching pradopoint, but I was looking at the separate screens (not built into the headrests), but have now decided on the headrest ones. Have found a mob (mostwantedauctions) that have a 10" version. Their site only has beige though and I need the grey. Have emailed them and will see what they say, otherwise it will be the 9.2" units.

              Thanks heaps guys!

Treane, check the aspect ratio is 16:9 and the resolution. Also check they have built in IR transmitters. If yes then you should be good to go.

Treane, The only thing to watch out for is buying the IR Headphones from mobileseller. I bought 2 cordless headphones to use with the headrest screens but they are now interfering with each other. I believe I should have bought the dual band ones and put each one on a seperate band. They didn't tell me that when I bought everything together which I think they probably should have.

10" version may look a bit "in your face" as you do not have a lot of room for the second row.

                        Treane,

Did you end up purchasing grey headrest screens via ebay. If so can you let me know how the colour match was against the Prado grey leather seats. I'm looking at a set of these to go with my new Polaris head unit.

                        Thanks

                          help please

I would love the latest opinions.

I will take delivery of a new GX week after next and am having the dealer install a Polaris unit.

I want to get the picture in the back for the rug rats but cant decide between roof mount or headrest screens.

Headrest ones would be easier to fit and less likely to fall on me in rough stuff, but how dickey does the fake leather look next to the cloth seats?

                          thanks

Hey Mav your headrest monitors look the goods and its hard to workout which ones to go for( there is a few on the market) :? I have been looking for awhile now but have yet to make a decision on which one to go for. Can you tell me where you got yours from and have they got external speakers or do you need the headphones to listen?

Installing the polaris DVD/GPS/rear camera unit with headrest from mobilesellers this is the result.

Some of you have been wondering on how the grey headrest look with the fabric interior, so for the fabric interior owners among us, this is how the 9.2" LCD headrest look:

Not to bad I say, at least the kids are happy
