Has a lot to do with the degree of spread of your camera, mines 150 degrees:

I have since 'bent' it dowwn a little further so I can see the hitch:

Hey Dobbo, it looks like your camera is sorta recessed into the bumper is that the case?
The reason my installer guy didnt put mine there was because he thought it would get broken quite easily, but it looks like the best place to me as its more central.

        Hi Pomp,

it is recessed into the bumper. Just something to be aware of for those thinking of doing this themselves, there is a chassis rail right behind the bumper.
The mobile installer flattened 2 cordless drills before calling in reinforcements in the way of a 240v drill to finish drilling the hole to slot the camera in.
Bet he wished his office had not promised free installation as it took him a couple of hours or more.
Fat lot of good it did putting it in anyway (after the missus reversed into someone), she went out and reversed into a post at the local netball courts :x
I think she got the message after the quiet word I had with her and the ban on driving it .
She called me extravagent when I bought the Prado (she drives a VW Beetle Turbo) but whenever she goes out, it is always "can I take your car?"
        Go figure!!

There's a nice hole in the chassis rail, just on the other side of the towball, that you can line up from the inside. Its big enough to fit a 7 pin trailer plug ... so it should be big enough to fit a camera.

I would have thought there would be one on each side .... but maybe your installer just missed it.

I know its not a great close-up pic ..... but you can see where Leachy has his trailer plug ..... its there.

          Cheers

He shouldn't have missed it by the time he pulled the bumper off!
By then it was probably too late.
Hope he took note of that for future reference.

Thats where mine is, maybe I just have a rubbish camera. I'll post some pics of my camera output when I've worked out how to do it.

That looks very much like the Pioneer camera. How is it mototrim?

                    Works good Mav,

My only gripe it dosn`t give you any idea of how close you are to an object,a couple of bumper senses would have been good

Other than that it works great at night as well

Good to know, I still have my Pioneer sitting in its box as for some reason the cheapy from ebay is now playing the game and performing pretty well.

The only thing about the ebay one is it does have a built in guide to distance but so does the Roadrover so I have a cluttered looking display with two sets of lines etc.

                      Cheers

Hey Mav do you think i would be able to just swap the camera lens with the ebay model to get the distance metre

                          reverse camera

mav, so is it the pioneer camera that has the distance guage included with the camera?
Have you used it? Just wondering if it was that effective?

                          Cheers Rhys

                            Howdy,

I have mounted mine in the same spot that mototrim has - easy for cables and can take the whole panel off to mount easily.

Mine also has a distance thing on it, but is VERY hard to judge distances on it. From what I know the Camera is mainly to see what is there, it is best to get the proximity sensors to measure distance. Basically on mine it will say 1m, and in reality the object is a lot further away.

Not sure of the brand, but got it from WOW Sight and Sound (they had the Kenwood unit on special).

                            Thanks

                            Nick
