  • Which lights, Lightforce or IPF?

Just picked up my new D4D, what can I say, bloody impressed. The drive is perfect, nice and smooth and most of all very quiet. Ok, I've go the Sovereign bullbar but am now deciding on which lights to get.
I know this is a personal question, some like Lightforce and others like IPF but it is good to have opinions from those who own both.

I'm looking at the Lightforce Genesis (when released) or the 240XGT's, if I go the IPF then I'm looking at the 900XS.

Any comments or feedback on these lights? I've heard from both sales reps advising they are both about equal but I've also heard that the Lightforce are better quality and have a better mount on the bar.

    Any advice is appreciated.

ive never been a fan of lightforce, and always had IPF.

both are very decent lights, and it would come down to how they look..

id like to see a pair of lightforce after a car accident. I ran up the rear of a laser years ago in my previous 4wd, and wrote the laser off and bent the bullbar. The IPFs survived. I had also hit a number of roos as well.

I have got the IPF 900's very happy with the optics/beam and look of it too.
Lightforce just looks a bit bulky.....

I suppose its personal choice at the end of the day.

I have 900XS on my D4D. Very impressed with the build quality. I chose them over Lightforce (which all my mates have on Prado's) because they aren't made of plastic like the Lightforce.

The IPF's were installed on the car with two spread beams. I went and bought two spot lenses so I could have the best of both worlds. I have installed on spot, so now I have what is call the Combo. Very happy with the light output.

I think I am going to put the other spot lens in and try it as most of my night driving is long straight roads out west.

Good luck with whatever you choose... Enjoy your Prado too!

Got the IPF 900xs two spots very happy, where good at spotting koalas and seeing what at the top of the hill when I first put them on and went for a drive both were pointing up and a bit to the right, at least it was consistent, they can make the big yellow roadsigns a bit dazziling though.

i've got double IPS 900xs spots. excellent light output but putting a spread beam in between them is definately on the cards.. not getting as much highway use as i anticipated so the spread will help a lot.

mind you i took them out the other night when it was cold and the plastic covers were covered in dew. gave a pretty good spread like pattern and i'm now trying to figure out how i can modify the cover to give a more scattered show. figure paying $30 for another set of covers and being able to switch them around is a cheaper option than another set of lights.

I'm going to give the new Lightforce Genesis (still about 3-4 weeks away) a go, from what I have heard they should be wortht the wait. Once I've got them on I'll post some pics and let you know how they go.

I've had a set of Lightforce 170's on my hilux for 7 years. Once I get myself a Bullbar for the Prado they will be relocated, a simple polish of the Lightforce plastic an bingo look as good as new. Also they still light the road up as if they were new.

I do like the looks of the .i.p.f extreme 900 spotties x3 (Blue's) across the Bullbar though (joey's rig).

I have fitted a set of IPF 900XS spotties last week and I'm very impressed with the light they throw out. I do a lot of my night driving on winding roads so I opted for the pencil/spread beam to keep an eye out for the deer and wallabies.
Just bought a HID conversion kit for them off ebay which I hope will blister roadsigns at 1000 paces.

                          cheers,

I wasnt happy with the 2 ipf900xs pencil beams i had, so i added a hella 4000 (kept from a previous vehicle) in between them.
                            Excellent coverage now.
