hi everyone
there is a lot of info regarding ARB racks but i couldn't find an answer to the 1 question i have so if i missed it i apologise. my question is: how close does the rack actually sit from the roof of the car (120 series).could someone measure it for me please. i am in the process of having a rack made and am deciding whether to buy an ARB fitting kit or have some made.
Hi everyone
heaps of info on here but couldn't find an answer to the 1 question i have. can anyone tell me how close the rack actually sits above the roof? i have a thing about racks being really high off the car.
Thanks Brett

Check the previous posts... in particular entry #25. Even has photos.
Can measure the exact distance tomorrow if you need.

Unfortunately not in the Tourer (Roof Top Tent) version yet. They say it may be a few years off if ever.
Based on demand....and I only want one.
My local ARB guy told me that you can fit your rooftop tent to the alloy rack and get an extension piece for your ladder (to accomodate the extra little bit of height) - haven't don this and don't know much about roof top tents, but that is what I was told.

Does anyone have the fitting instructions for the ARB roof rack (for a 120 series). While I'm sure it's pretty straight forward, I've bought a second hand one and want to check all the parts are there when it arrives, before I make a start.

The parts you should have are:
The roof rack
2x Rails that bolt onto the roof
24X Screws with washers and spring washers
6x L shaped brackets that you screw the bolts into when you attach the rack to the rails
I think thats it, I'm sure someone will be able to remind me if i've missed anything.
The rails bolt onto the roof using the holes that the factory racks or rails use, then the rack bolts onto the rails using the L shaped brackets, it should all make sense when it arrives (assuming all the parts are there)
Hope that helps.
Justin.

And the 6 rubber gaskets that fit between the 'feet' of the rails and the roof. Once the rails are on lift the rack on top and then bolt through the rack and rails into the L shaped brackets. Fit these loosely to all 6 points and then square up the rack. Tighten the bolts. I think that is it. I didn't actually use anything except the rails and I edited them anyway.

The gaskets are flat rubber about 20mm x 75mm (ish?) and have two holes punched for the M8 allen screws that hold the rails on. Gaskets are maybe 1mm thick or so. Fitted mine 4 years ago so the grey matter is guessing a bit. Better idea than OEM or the 'o' rings that come with Rhino racks. I also poured some neutral cure sikaflex into and around the holes but I did things a bit differently and bolted spacer plates down and the rails bolt to those and not through the roof. Not recommended for the ARB rack though. If the rack is going to be fitted and removed often I wouldn't bother about the silicone seal but it the rack is on pretty permanently then it is good insurance against wet carpet. FC's instructions should tell all!
