Re: Tuning Bluetooth in new GXL

We mentioned our difficulties with our bluetooth recently when our Prado had to go in for some other work. Toyota was happy to just order a replacement unit under warrant on this occasion. We are happy with this, but still not sure why the system sometimes just fails to connect seemlessly.

Re: Tuning Bluetooth in new GXL

It seems that the problem is intermittent - i have the same problem every so often with E51

The other day - the only way i could get the things to connect was by turning off the car and then - it worked for 2 mins - then disconnected ... after all that - i had to talk and drive at the same time with the phone to ear - then out of the blue - they connected again without intervention.

Very frustrating - big problem with this head unit ....

I dont know if a replacement will fix this flaw - or make it worse (if not the same annoying problem !!)

      Bloody annoying !!!

Same issue with my Bluetooth...in regardsto people not being able to hear me. I have resorted to using the speaker on the phone instead of bluetooth, so really interested to see there might be a problem with the mic gain on the bluetooth unit.. Is the fix from Toyota a replacement for the whole audio unit? or a bluetooth component?

          Rick,

I am not sure of what exactly the fix is. I am on my second fujitsu ten unit with the "fix" as the first unit made no difference compared to the original when it came to the issue of other people being unable to hear me. I am not sure the current unit is any better but have given up whinging. I do wonder whether it is a bluetooth software issue and if Nokia have made their phones pair best only with their hands free units. I updated the software on my 6120 recently to version 5.11 but that too made little difference.

          Good luck,

          Siva

Guys i think you will find that a lot of the issues are with the phone, i have a nokia and a blackerry, the nokia does not work as well with the unit as the blackberry, it connects everytime fist time and works a treat. The only way i get the nokia to be more consistant is to turn it off and back on weekly as someone else metioned previously with the nokia's. The nokia is no different with the company car, it does not pair well with the holden bluetooth however the Balckberry does first time everytime. If you are frustrated with the car i would suggest it is more likely the phone. the way i have fixed this is i run the blackberry with the car blue tooth and nokia runs off a nokia bluetooth i pick up for a couple hundred bucks on the net.

nothing changed on my Nokia (e51)

no volume adjustments - it appears that headunit wont allow me to wind up the volume on the unit to more than 14 - when last week -i would make it as loud/quite as i wanted ... not good when driving and i cant adjust the head unit volume

No, mine works first time every time, may have issue once every six months ?? if that.

                            Ntpryce,

I have the same problem with mine. I've put it down to my crap phone. Usually it occurs when the battery starts getting low.
The phone is provided by work so i don't have much say in the model.
The phone I use is an I-Mate JasJam. I'm 99% positive it's the phone because my older I-Mate never had a problem.
when I got the new phone a year ago I started having similiar problems on my old BlueAnt System that was in the Hilux. Before the new phone, no problem.

                            Just my 2cents

                            regards

Mine has been working perfectly from the time I set it up in the showroom.

Some people say that they can't hear me clearly at times, but it always connects!

I found it worthwhile to delete other bluetooth partnerships that the phone has. Add the prado first then progressively the others back (if you need them).

Re: Tuning Bluetooth in new GXL

I have given up on the bluetooth in the car. Got the Motorolla V3XX and reception for me in the car is fantastic, but the person on the other end cannot here squat from me, always breaking up apparantly. This is crap, crap unit. There seems to be lots of different phones with the same unit problem, so it surely cannot be the phone.

                                Cheers
