Which Coulour Bar??

Hi Guys,

New to prado point so g'day everyone.

Silly question,

We have just bought a white '05 GXL and have ordered an ARB delux bull bar, among other things. My problem,

I wan't white, shee don't
She want's black, I don't

Would a silver look OK?? I not generally into my general apperance but a new car don't come along avery day.

Your suggestions are welcom.

I'm in the same boat at the moment but after ringing ARB the other day THEY recommended I DON'T colour code it to white as they said any little udge on a tree or something will scratch the paint off (they use a 2 pack paint over the powdercoated grey). They said it will turn into a dalmatian.

I figure they must have seen it so I think I'll stick with the charcoal grey.

Our ARB bar on the prado is coloured the same as the car and the one on our surf is not. Next time I will be leaving it black as the paint once colour coded gets stone chips whereas the powder coat on the surf is now 11 years old and is still fine. Ours is about to go into the pannel beaters for a touchup over the next week or 2

Another vote for the coloured bar. Got to say I have no problem with chipping, and I have done alot of dirt road driving.

How it looked sitting on the car sales yard 2 years ago;



....and how it looks today..... I am biased, but that looks a whole lot better;

I just left mine the ARB factory dark grey. A little amount of surface rust is visible on some of the bar edges where the factory coating is thin. May I suggest a coat of paint or powder coating wouldn't go astray. One other thing to think about, if any white bar owners could help on this, is that white bars tend to reflect a hell of a lot of light from headlights back into your face. I have seen this on a commodore ute, but maybe the Prado won't reflect. Hope this helps.

Not had any problem with headlight reflection. I did on my 80 & 100 series, but the bar on the prado sits lower and has not been a problem.

Reflection no issue for me with white color coding.
I have had problems with relection from sun mainly, but lights too, on my earlier Prado 90 fitted with a polished alloy bar.
Yep, have a couple stone chips on the bar , but thats what touch up paint is for.
Hey, if you're not getting stone chips then you're not using the vehicle for its intended purpose!!
