At this stage we have not trial fitted a water tank to your model. When we do this the information will be posted on our website. At this stage we have no time frame in mind. Thanks Dave

in australia, we only got the 5 doors verions of the prado.
their is a few 3 doors on this site (overseas), so it might take a while to get this answered
I’ve never been happy with the fact that the Long Ranger tank does not have a breather. Every time you take water out you get a slight vacuum in the tank and it sucks dust through the filler. I’ve tried replacing the filler seal with a better quality one but it didn’t solve the problem.
To solve this once and for all I added a breather today.
This involved drilling and tapping the top of the tank (it’s about 5-6mm thick) and fitting a pneumatic fitting (90° elbow), 6mm nylon line is run up the trailer wiring plug grommet into the rear of the car and I put a brass filter (pneumatic silencer) on the end of it.
Some of the photos didn’t work out so you have to use your imagination a little!
Parts used are standard pneumatic fittings (also good for extended diff breathers)
If fitted behind the filler then there is no need to drop the tank, the plastic is very easy to tap so a spanner can be used to drive the tap (nothing will fall into the tank as you are forming a thread not cutting one)
Once assembled and the trim is back in place the whole job is hidden from view.
On testing I found the tap flows a lot better with the breather fitted. I just hope it keeps the dust from entering the filler as planned…. To be tested next week!

Just visited the local ARB shop to inquire about the 21L Long Ranger water tank for our new car. Unfortunately, they tell me that the tank is not yet compatible with the new GXL due to the rear air conditioning system.
It's the flexi tank you can't fit... it's a bladder that goes in the drivers side quarter panel right where the rear AC is in your case. The Long Ranger tank will fit all models inc Grande (it's designed to avoid the compressor for the suspension)

Hi Mick
I like your idea for the breather, concealed under the trim and eliminating contaminates.
I will look at the long ranger tank at the ARB open day in October, hoping to get a good price.
Cheers Troy

Just picked up myself one of these tanks, looking at run a hose from it to the front of the (car where my water pump is)
I think I will need a breather installed in it too

Hi Grim
You will not regret fitting the longranger tank, so convenient and one of those accessories that just look factory fitted.
After the post above with plans to purchase a tank from ARB, I was fortunate enough to meet a PP member at a GTG that had a Longranger tank surplus to his requirements.
Before fitting the tank I discovered that the tap cut out had been pushed inside by the installer previously, this was restricting the outlet.
So suggest you check this.
I also fitted an elbow to the top of the tank with pneumatic tube, running up to a silencer mounted behind the right hand side tail light.
This breather helps with tap flow at the bottom of the tank, so I can see it being essential for your install. http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/t...1/IMG_3970.jpg http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/t...1/IMG_3968.jpg

Thanks for the info Troy
Ill make sure I do this mod when I am installing the tank, but one thing, Is this valve one way?
Im trying to figure out the best way to have a breather and be able to back fill the tank from the outlet hose, I could see alot of water ending up in my rear tail light.
do you back fill the tank or fill it from the standard filler that comes with it?

Also did you have to remove your rear bar to fit this?
the rear towbar will have to come off, I have a hayman reese, and to take that off it looks like the rear bumper will have to come off.
and while i think of it. any tips from anyone on running a water hose from the rear to the front? inside the chassis rail maybe?
