Recovery points for 08 prado

Hey

Have don plenty of reading and searching but can't find what i need. I am looking to fit some recovery points to beast. It has a TJM Alloy delux winch bar.
Some of the post show a diy guide for the soveriegn bar but not aftermarket. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

The Outback Ideas seem to be popular as discussed in this thread.

Have been looking at getting a set myself and they seem to be priced around the $120 per pair mark.
I am sure they will do the job but someone in another thread mentioned they do not have a rating stamped on them.
Not sure of the legal ramifications in the highly unlikely event something went wrong.

It has a TJM Alloy delux winch bar.

Give TJM a call, they also sell the Outback Ideas recovery points mentioned by Celwar so they sould be able to tell you if they are compatible with their bar.

Outback ideas should fit, I saw one with that bar and those points the other week.

There will also be a set coming up in the for sale section very soon too :wink:

TJM in Blacktown (sydney) told me this morning that they are no longer supplying or fitting recovery points. I was also informed the same thing yesterday by ARB in Artarmon. The official line is that there is a problem with supply, but unoffcially one of the sales guys said that there might be a quality problem.

This leaves me in a spot. I'm planning to go to the Cape in July and don't wany to rely on the transport tie down hooks.

Has anyone fitted and used some other brand of recovery points?

Thanks for the advice. This is where TJM etc have been sourcing from but recently Outback Ideas cannot supply. I spoke to another 4WD shop out west of Sydney and they told me the same story, however they are going to have a look at getting some made up. If they decide to do this I will post their details. I also rang nearly every ARB in Sydney and found one that has a couple of Outback Ideas ones still in stock @ $125 + $100 to fit.

Hi fellas

Just to add something else to this, I was told by a spare parts supplier that I couldnt put towing points on my 08 Prado as it has air bags and wasnt made to have them fitted to the chassis?? I didnt argue but found that an interesting answer, there must be a thousand Prados out there with towing points fitted and I doubt there are many that have had problems with them.

nah didnt bother, just made them myself. Bloody lot easier and a heck of a lot cheaper.
