Thats a good idea keithrj. Kudos for thinking outside the box, and using a portable handset. Might do some more thinking on that one for my own rig (possibly as a second mount).

Not sure if people are aware but the Carkit also chrges the radio thru the antenna socket. As mentioned a full 5 watt radio with external antenna equals same performance as a fixed radio and can be removed easily and is easy to use when you use a speaker mic. Oh just dont plug a uniden etc into the car kit as the GME is the only radio that can be charged via its antenna port :wink: .
