    Re: Front Runner WindCheetah Roofrack

I have ordered the 2.2 windcheetah, looking forward to it's arrival.
I see boomslang has an awning mounted to his, I would appreciate some close up pics of the mounting brackets for the awning just to see what and which way would be the best method to mount the awning to the Windcheetah.

Thanks guys without Pradopoint my Prado would still be nude (no Extra's).

    Lenny.

LFaR has supplied a great contact for Top Quality 8mm Eyelets that fit snug with the Windcheetah "Stainless Direct Price List on page 2"
I ordered 20 eyelets and 10 Nylock nuts $35.25 Delivered. Do a search on Ebag you won't find them that cheap. I didn't order any bolts as I had some stashed in the shed.

          Thanks LFaR Huge savings here.

            Re: Front Runner WindCheetah Roofrack

Just went thru the song and dance for a 2.0mtr Windcheetah roofrack kit for my 120. Funny enough I managed to come up with these prices.

            1) Brookvale OL - $1560 delivered on courier.

            2) Penrith OL - $1385 delivered on courier (TNT), with insurance.

No guessing which store I went through...

Should be here from Perth next week. http://www.dolium.com.au/Retail_Catalog ... _item.html

              Re: Front Runner WindCheetah Roofrack

              Guys,
I am interested in a WindCheetah roof rack. One thing I do want is to be able to fit an awning. I have been looking at Black Widow's 'Fred's Arm'. I like it as you can swing it from the side to the rear of the car. Has anyone used one of these awnings and can one be fitted to WC roof rack?
              Cheers Lego

                  Re: Front Runner WindCheetah Roofrack

Two bolts left to tighten and the rack is finished.

I fitted the wind deflector (too easy) as the instructions we with the parts. As for the tracks and the legs, bugger all instructions in the box. Thanks LFAR for your how to, as without it the job would have taken alot longer.

You have to love it when the inside brackets in the back of the car drop off inside the roof lining.. such fun to retrieve with the hands I have.....

I guess as its just cracked 39 degrees out side, I should have cleared out the garage and done it inside, as I now resemble a lobster !!!

Looks pretty good..( the rack that is, not me )

Did you bend the deflector up so there was a gap of at least 15mm (I think that was the requirement) from the roofline? I found bending it to be a PIA, so your comment on "too easy" makes me wonder if you did that.

The next step is to buy a handful of the eyenuts and bolts. This is where I found the best prices on the eyenuts: Stainless Steel Direct. I have no affiliation with them, other than they help to keep money in my pocket .

                        Cheers,

Just about to call and order some gear from stainless direct.

The lip was about 10mm as supplied, and the roof gap is more than 30mm from my guess, all good.

This is how I fixed my awning to the Rack. It has 2 "L" brackets that are fitted to the underside of the crossbars with the short leg of the "L" pointing upwards. I also fitted a plastic cap over the end of the screw to stop the screw from scrathing the side of the rack.

It must be the Scottsman in me, but I find these, and all other similar racks of this type ( TJM, ARB, Rhino, etc ... ) so overpriced for what they are. Maybe it's just me?
