I am keen to make a purchase but want to know that i can fit both up there.

    Cheers,
    Hello Wil,

I have the 1.8 metre rack. With the spare on the roof I think (been a while) I have just over a metre left. I dont have a tent but you get the idea.

The picture attached has a spare, a 1200X1200 pack and a oztent RV4. If I remember correct the the tyre and the pack rack just over lap. The tyres are D694's, same size as standard.

    • A 265/65R17 tire has a diameter of 776mm
      A 265/70R17 tyre has a diameter of 803mm

Should be able to work out from there what length rack to buy depending on how much room the RTT takes up.

But the rack itself is great will post some pic when I get a chance....
Just wondering if you have got any pictures of the rack on the rails yet Chuck?

I would be keen to see how it looks once installed.

                  • Gents, that's 2.2m rack. Just sold it. Getting a new one, 2.4 m for the new 4wd.

                    • G'day All,
I am about to purchase a 1.8m rack and am in the process of doing the final measurements to make sure if fits in the shed. Working of LFaR's images, it think it will make it in under the roller door by 2mm, a little close for me. If there someone with the rack that has a 2 inch lift and 265/70 tyres, I am very keen to know an overall height. I believe my car sits at 1930 to the roof line at the moment.

                      • I've got 2" lift, MT ATZ 4 rib, and the Windcheetah. Last time I measured it, 2050mm.

If that's a problem, let me know and I'll put the tape on it again tomorrow...

                        • Thanks Photoprado, it looks like with a small amount of modification of the roller door (2050 is the exact height of the door) it will go into the shed.

                          • You will be fine. I just went and checked my measurements with a straightedge:

My rack is level at 1960mm from a flat floor on the 3 corners I can measure (awning in the way on front passenger side).

Floor to lower edge of wheel arch at wheel centres:
                            Right Rear: 925mm
                            Right Front: 930mm
                            Left Rear: 920mm
                            Left Front: 915mm

That should be enough information for you to work out what height your rack will sit at. My tyres are half worn and the lift will have settled since it was installed in 2009. I don't think the difference is 90mm, so my 2050 must be fiction, sorry for the misinformation!

                            • Thanks for all the effort you have gone to for me. Even with differences of the car (mine has a lift and sits on MT tyres, so should be very similar) it should go in fine. The tallest point of the car (measured under a roller door closed to the roof to the floor of the shed) is 1930, sounds like it should be good. I had a look at the roller door and I will be able to raise that by about 40mm as well.
Thanks again for fantastic help. I will let you know how I go.
