  • My new accessories

Went to the Perth Caravan and Camping show today.
We were looking for a few necessities before our trip to the PP GTG. Our need list so far was a roof rack, Tyres and a new battery to replace one of ours under the bonnet.
A new fridge would be nice as well as an awning, but they as well as a heap of other things are just wants.

We got a quote from Rhino for their rack sysem with an ally cage clamped to the top, and a roof rack bag. They had an awning there as well. the fox wing wrap around. they look great. But the rack and cage look flimsy and I wouldnt like to be 1/2 way to alice and corrugations made it fall apart. So kept walking.
Saw the hannibal awning bolted to a Prado. Realy strong looking, but was quite small compared to others we have seen, not to mention pricey.
We walked around for most of the day looking at fantastic caravans, campers and accesoriy tents till we finaly walked into ARB.
Their new ally rack was there, at a good price too, considering the others available. They look fantastic. Round tube, Security screen fully welded in, powder coated, and a tough mounting system, They also had roof rack bags, and fridges.
So we put down a deposit on a new ally full rack, fittings, 1/2 roof bag, new ARB fridge (47lt) which now makes our 32lt engel our freezer.
So all in all, we are very happy campers... Got a good package (show) price and a free goanna chair...

Still need a battery and tyres but there is still a few months to go.
Pics will come when they are installed.
    Jeff.

The fridge is a nice piece of work. I was going to get a Waeco, but after looking at all the improvements in the ARB version, I caved in and ordered it too. $1199 retail, I did a bit better than that, but still it was dearer than the best I could get the Waeco for.

          we got the rack $1035
          fittings $167
Rhino luggage half bag, it is almost full length but only 1/2 the rack wide. $224
ARB fridge $1200 with free transit bag.
and a free OZTENT Goanna chair. These I havnt seen before. but seeing as one of our colemans is busted, and it has a lumbar support, its going to fit my bum nicely. Also it has a can holder on both sides. a man has 2 hands you know....

As for the prices, well You could do better elsewhere, but i'm happy.

What Rhino Aluminium Rack did you go with.
It just fitted the AT1510. It was the biggest Tray I fit on the Prado with only 2 rails and crossbars.

I got a good deal at the Bris 4x4 show over the weekend.
            I x pair of the H/D CXB Bar/kit
            1 x pair of RAILS 1375mm
1 x AT1510 Ally Tray plus Ally Tray Fitting Kit.

            regards

ahhhh, now that's better. Thank you.
I think you did okay. I have been looking at the rack and think I was quoted around the same. Congrats on the new toys and enjoy.

Got the ARB Alloy one. Tho we we went with the Rhino luggage half bag.
They look good and promise the world, so hopefully everything stays dry and clean.

                  Re: My new accessories

I too visited the caravan and camping show in Perth (Claremont) and for the first time ever I DID NOT SPEND ONE SINGLE CENT (other than entry fee).

I suddenly realised that I have everything that I could possibly need - is that possible?

My missus thought I must have been sick, I always walk away from those shows with something usually expensive.

Looked at my car, looked at my camper trailer and looked into my shed. Nah, got everything that I need.

Perhaps a new rifle or shotgun, or a new coil for my detector, or a bigger throttle body for my cobra.

But I did score two big golf-ball size chips in my windscreen on the way down to Perth.

                  I know, I'll get a new windscreen. After-all, it's only 2 months old.

                    Re: My new accessories

haha, never thought that that was possible. You might need a new hobby?
By the way, why don't you include windscreen damage with your insurance, I think I pay an extra $50 or $60 in premium to cover new glass with my policy.

                    Cheers

                      Hey Bush basher.

                      Bugger bout the windscreen...

I was thinking I wouldnt spend anything, just to look at some of the things i want in the same place and compare and stuff.
But with 3 months to pay, said yep.

Will have to catch up if we are around Kal.

We will be going through early july and coming back later july to and from the PP GTG in alice.

                      Why dont you come along????

                      Jeff.

                        Re: My new accessories

Bit of a clash with my holidays and I really don't need another trip along the Great Central road. I do it every 2 months thru work and now it's as boring as driving the Gt Eastern Hwy. Besides, my missus doesn't like all the side trips to shoot dogs and camels that I do.
