How to install a fridge slide?

HI

AS mentioned elsewhere in the forum, I am now the proud owner of a Waeco CF60 fridge slide.

Now comes the hard part, how do I fit it to the rear deck?

I don't have any draw system, I just want to install it on the drivers side of the rear deck.

I have done a search of the forum, however, the only installations I can find relate to draw systems.

Please give me a hand. 8)

Old Salt, I wouldn't drill directly into the floor. You could fit a plank of wood into the cargo area and secured the wood down via the existing tie down points. Then drill holes into the wood to secured your fridge slide. Snaga recently build something similar. Here is the link to his rig build up thread.

you will see that I wanted to mount my fridge but didn't want it on top of drawers so I made up a board which ended up with a single drawer at the front.

There is no reason why you couldn't follow this path and fit a board (with or without a drawer) to the driver's side and mount the slide to the board. Worth looking at. I made some J bolts up which go under the seat brackets. Should be able to see how it was done. Really very easy to do. Make sure you use a structural or form ply and I would be removing the seat brackets and bolting into the captive nuts in the floor since you are going to be putting a lot more load on it than I do. You can paint it rather than carpet if you want which always keeps the cost down. There are lots of pictures of the base board others have used for the bottom of their drawer sets and you could follow that lead if you want to do the full width of floor.

Nearly finished.

I removed the third seat drivers side brackets.

Cut and drilled a bit of board.

Painted the board and put in sun to dry

Then it rained on board.

Re-painted board and as the sun was out, put it in the sun to dry.

Bugga, it rained again.

Re-Painted board and now it's slowly drying in the garage.

You may not have realised it Oldsalt, but perhaps you have inadvertently designed a crude barometer instead of a fridge slide :shock:
(ie when board is wet, its raining; when board is dry, its sunny; when board is upside down, its very windy; etc). :lol: :lol: :lol:

The funny thing was, my mate had driven into my driveway as I was bringing the board inside for the first time.

My mate then told me it was his fault as he had just washed his car! :roll:

I just welded two tabs to the fridge slide. the one at the back bolts in to the existing tiedown and the one front left also to an existing tiedown. I then drilled 2 holes which matched up with the 3rd row seat mounting bolts, replacing the standard bolts with slightly longer ones. Takes about 5 minutes to install & just as easy to remove. If I ever decide to sell the fridge slide the two welded tabs should be easy to remove. I also used some washers stuck together under the right hand side because I found if I tightened it too much, it affected the running of the drawer.
