Can anyone post a picture of their Tigerz11 winch showing the location of the clutch engagement lever on a 120 Prado with the original Sovereign bull bar. Would like to see options on mounting for access to the clutch lever and possibly the location of the control box.

Also from a quick play today I need to mount the winch so that the clutch is on the drivers side (right) and the motor is on the passages side, is this right?

No it's the other way around.

That's what I initially thought, but when I had it that way around it looks like the rope will be rubbing on the bar because it is going to wind on from the bottom of the drum. Hoping some pictures may help me out.

        Cheers

The rope is supposed to wind in from the bottom of the drum.

Haha yes that is correct... Try mounting your winch like that on a soverign bar...

The offset hawse can only be bolted on via the top holes...

What is the after effect of a winch that winds on 'over' the drum?

They specifically say not to do it as it damages the gearbox.

OK after reading the instructions a number of times I finally see and read that the Toyota winch should be mounted with the motor to the left hand side and the wire rope feeding off the top of the drum. STEP 3

To me this makes sense as the rope will not be rubbing against the bar and at an angle to pass out through the hawse.

Lets see what others have done. I will try ringing tigerz tomorrow before I mount it this way.

Hey hassro... Im researching the same thing at the moment in the Soverign bar / Winch fitting thread linked below.

                  http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...-Winch-fitting

Can mods please link the hassros above post the the link above?

Its more a Sov bar issue but has high relevance in both threads...

I found another video of the Tigerz11 2 speed 9,000lb winch (no longer available) being installed on an 80 series, it too shows the rope winding from underneath :- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPniz-vpx3o

Now I understand this is an issue with the Sovereign bar but I wouldn't mount with an overwind without checking with Tigerz11 first. I thought I had read a reference to cable direction on their site but it was actually in the instruction manual for the Supercheap Ridge Ryder winch. I believe that winch comes out of the same factory as the Tigerz11. Here's the link if you want to have a read :-

If I understand correctly you are basically proposing to flip the winch upside down right? If that is the case won't you have issues mounting the electrical cables or will there still be sufficient clearance to attach the cables to the mounting posts on the motor?

OK I called Tigerz this morning and the bloke in Melbourne said that it is fine for the winch to be mounted with the motor on the passenger side and the rope feed onto the drum from the top. He advised the main concern is the rope not being stressed as it passes through the hawse onto the drum.

                      Cheers
