I recall reading about how some of the members had installed the new type bosch wipers, I now can't find the thread?

As these type of wipers need to be connected to the wiper arm, how do you get the old wiper off?

I am talking about taking off the whole of the blade section like this

    And replacing it with this

I have lifted the clip holding the wiper section the the arm, pulled and tugged at the end and it will not budge.

it looks complicated, but it's quite simple. there's a little springy latch, find that and the whole thing just slides off. i'll take a picture for you when i get home tonight if you haven't sussed it by then!

(they got a mention in the wiper jet upgrade thread)

Thanks for the reply, I pulled and shoved a bit more and got it off.

Went down to the local autobarn shop and they want $34.70 for each bosch wiper.

Checked ebay and there is a new seller selling bosch knockoff's for $16.00 a pair.

I'm game to try them and have ordered one 20" set and one 22" set as that gives me a set of passenger side at 20" and a set of drivers side at 22 inch, post cost $12 for the lot.

I will report when I try them.

For those interested, I have received and installed my "Dong Shan" (bosch knockoff) wipers.

I have never tried Bosch, however, the Dong Shan are well made, and work much better than the original.

They come in a box with a plastic protector strip on the blade section.

I am very impressed, especially for $16.00 a pair.

          Good work.

I'll probably get the rears (18") first as I just changed the fronts. Waiting for him to list them up again.

How were the wipers packaged? In boxes of 2's?

                No, in single boxes.

I just ordered two pair to keep one set as a spare, however, if you ask you should be able to get a pair with one 20" and one 22".

Actually, I think I will ask if I can buy just one 18" for the rear.

EDIT: I have just sent an email to see if I can buy one 18" wiper.
I also suggested that he needs to sell a Prado package, one 22", one 20" and one 18", I will let you know what he said.

He has replied saying that I can buy a pair and then add $8 (like an additional charge once you complete a buy it now) for the 3rd wiper. So I then asked him whether I can buy 1 of each. He hasn't replied yet but you have confirmed that the wipers are packaged singly, so I think he should be able to sell a set of 2 or 3 containing different sizes. He also said that he has plenty.

The way the listing is set up, it looks like you need to buy a pair as a minimum.

Mine didn't work too well at first.

Then I discovered that the blade had a cover over it ops:

                        Re: Bosch Wipers

My front ones are still going strong but the one I put on the back is a bit dodgy. it doesn't do the full arc, seems to "lift" at the top when it's vertical. (has done since new). if I hadn't chucked the original I'd change it back! will be been to hear it you have same probs.

looks like it, but my stock wiper arm was fine, may have lifted a cm at most....this one is closer to 10-15 cm
