Toyota Tow Bar?

Hi Guys,
Is the Toyota Prado Tow Bar the best one to have fitted? I believe there are others out there (ARB etc.) that are cheaper! Any advice appreciated.

BTW if I had my time again I'd fit the Hayman Reese and not the Toyota OE

I went for this tow bar as I had had one previously and liked the way that it wraps around the chassis bar, other people may have different opinions.

When my 120 was delivered in January this year I had asked for a towbar to be fitted. I asked the sales rep if the bar was rated for snatching and he said he wasn't sure and thought maybe not.

I ended up getting them (Newtown) to fit a reece style bar from Park Towbars, which is located around the corner from them in Welshpool.

It's a tough bar, is rated for snatching, came with a bonus recovery piece complete with shackle as well as standard tongue and ball and was nearly $300 cheaper than the Toyota product. This setup does not require cutting through the bumper and, because it sits slightly lower than the bumper bar, provides some additional protection under the back of the car behind the tank.

They have to fit the "Toyota" wiring harness though. It's certainly had a good workout in the last few months with plenty of towing of my camper trailer and a couple of snatch recoveries too.

We brought our prado new with the toyota bar already fitted. My biggest gripe with the vehicle is the way toyota fitted the plug... just in the right place to take your knuckles off when you attach the safety chains :evil: :evil: :evil:
So this weekends job is to reposition to plug instead of trail driving
I suppose I should have checked but do the Reese style recovery attachments fit the toyota bars?
