My boss and his late 09 GX were driving between Munglinup and Esperance the other week when the temperature was up around 48 degrees.

All of a sudden, he lost the aircon - no cool air at all. When he pulled into the Tojo dealer in Esperance they discovered that when the ARB bar was fitted the aircon condenser return line had been "bent". This resulted in the line rubbing against the inner bar on the bullbar and eventually ruptured it causing loss of all coolant. Unfortunately for the boss, the dealer didn't have a spare line so he spent the next few days driving with no air.

It pays to check all lines and wires after your bar has been fitted.

Yes as part of installation, the tube does have to be bent. ARB even have it set out in the fitting instructions

Otherwise the bar won't fit - I suspect whoever fitted the bar may have forgotten to bend the tube a bit for clearance, or have in fact bent it too far causing wall thickness to be come weak.

Another timely reminder to check those little things we take for granted

Ps: Take it he was in town when the black cockatoos were falling out of the sky due to heat stress :shock:

How about chucking up a photo of the offending pipe that needs to be bent. So those that have the ARB bar can check to make sure. I am 1,600km away, but I do have photos!

Yeah, he denies running the buggers over!

Our vehicles are fitted out by JAD in Wangara - they usually do a good job but sometimes they are under the pump to get the cars out on time. One thing to be thankfull of though - they have finally switched back to the ARB bars and ditched the Ironman junk.
