  • ARB rear bar and tyre carrier

Anyone have one of these? I have seen photos of the back of a 120 series with a nice looking bar with round tail-lights built into the bar. Can't seem to find any info them though.

      Nope thats not the one.
Maybe in it was in one of the latest 4x4 mags? Will have to have a look when I get home and scan it.

K&N are in Perth I think? I have been down to shop. they seem to be quite well rated but have not had any dealings with them.

Hmm sixth spare! Nope i want to the spare off the door. it has already dropped a bit and with that much weight on it its just asking for trouble. Booked it in for a 20 k service and asked if there was any trouble with the doors dropping and was told "yep they crack the top hinge" so less weight = less cracks!

Also I want to mount an antenna and tuner there (see IC7000 thread.

I saw a nice one on the back of a 120 the other week whilst mine was in the service dealer getting a new rear side window fitted.

Was a fairly heavy duty setup, had the cargo barrier behind the front seats and was well kitted out in the back, also had the full bumper replacement twin tyre carrier.
Not sure of the brand, but looked similar to the Perth mob's stuff.

There was a big Summit trax 4wd club sticker on the windscreen if thats any help.
          Found this info:
          Summit Trax Inc.

I have been looking at one marketed by Opposite Lock but haven't made up my mind if it worth the couple of grand they were asking.

What's the passenger side clearance like with the spare mounted over the handle and number plate/light frame?

I just don't get it why anyone would want to put extra 200-300kg+ at the
back axle of the car and spend around $2K just for the sake of carring extra wheel at the back....

200-300 kilo's? Hope not! I don't want to carry an extra tyre just want to get the other one off the door.

Did 4 months thru the Cape, Gulf and Gibb river with only one spare and had no dramas.

Also the original bumper looks like it could damage up pretty easy. They $1000 to replace so a better, stronger, more-easy-on-the-vehicle one could be a good idea!

Just has a look at the O/L bar. Not too bad.

As an aside there is a pic on the ARB site of a Patrol with a rear bar fitted. I am sure the 120 one I saw looked very simila

Going to look very silly if I can't find that pic...... ops:

                          wengnuts,
can remember exactly how much I was quoted, but amount was similar to what I paid for my ARB winch bar, so around 2k

I would just get a dealer to fix sagging door under warranty...
I did Simpson twice /Madigan Line/Hay River with MTRs on Steel Roh Track 2 rim on the rear door + Shovel & Axe holder with shovel and the Axe all
connected to the rear door ( = more that double weight of grandtrek + standard alloy rim)without any problems...

Dealer has said the yes the door has dropped but we will have to wait until it cracks the top hinge so they can then replace it under warranty. The new doors have been reinforced to stop this happening. Don't know when they started putting the stronger doors on but maybe yours is a later, stronger one?

He said it will be another 10,000k and it will crack. :?
