Yes you do. I think there is an offer available on Scangauge's website where you can get the code updated if you have an older version.
My Scangauge II Xgauge arrived today but I havn't had a chance to look at it yet. Got it on ebay from the US, approx $195 ($15 delivery included in the price). There were 95 when I looked the other day but they appear to be going down quickly.
The Xgauge stuff looks interesting because with a bit of knowledge (over my head anyway), you could potentially get additional codes which would show additional gauges. All quite interesting, however the PDF appears to be a bit light on the Toyota side at the moment.
I'll give the other gauges a go to see if they work, but I really thought someone may have already done this by now.
I'll post it if I find something interesting.

For those interested I emailed Scangauge US to ask if it was possible to use one of the Xgauges to monitor the max and min voltage. The answer was no but they thought it was a great idea and would sent the suggestion to the Scangauge R&D team to ponder.
What I also found out was the Scangauge monitored the voltage at the Scangauge not the computer. I guess the computer does not have an input for battery voltage.
From reading the other forums, it seems like the Toyota xgauges are still being worked on with more to come out approx Spring 08 (US).
But from reading this post and others like it, it looks like some of the goodies already available for other vehicles may not be so easy for Landcruisers.
Oh and of the 4 or 5 times I have driven the car since I installed the Scangauge, it didn't come on once. I have the first of the D4D AU builds (Oct 06).

I've the new 08 D4D and the scangauge II works a treat. I have noticed on two occasions in the past 3 weeks, that the scanguage has not come on automatically. Not a big issue for me as all it takes is to push the home button.

I agree it is easy to hit the Home button to reactivate however you are not recording any data while it is off so it skews all your reading like total fuel, total km etc. That annoys me as I always look at these when I fill up. I still use a manual sheet to record the actual km, litres etc as I cannot trust the gauge for these.

Same issue for me... sometimes have to hit button to kick into life..and i also keep manual spreadsheet of economy. I do the calc at fillup and it usually shows 11-12litres per hundred Km. Scanguage gives me all this nice data of averaging 7-9 litre per hundred km... so a bit tongue in cheek as to accuracy. Speedo on standard tyres is a cuppla km fast at 100kmh (according to GPS) but i figure the Scanguage should be a bit closer to the actual consumption? Looks great and a fun thing to play with on a trip..but accuracy?... the jurys still out for me i am afraid..

Hi masso
I don't have any problems with the Scangauge's accuracy. Have you calibrated the litres used using the MORE > FILLUP screen? This screen must be used initially to align the actual fill litres. You have to adjust via the < or > to match the litres and then press DONE.

I have been playing with the X Gauge feature on the SGII.
The list of codes on teh SG website has some tips but I can't seem to get anything to work, except.......
The Horsepower codes DO work so there is hope.
I also know that Toyota uses CANSF for the coding. I haven't played with the Fuel Trim codes - what do these do anyway??
Will keep investigating.

Does anyone know if the Scanguage will work on a 90 series? I have a 2000 3.4 petrol RV6 and would love to get one of these units if it works on my vehicle.

Unfortunately not - only from about 2005 onwards.

I posted this as part of another thread but have had no responses so I thouhght I would put it in the right place and hopefully get an answer or 7.
"One other thing without wishing to hijack this (I have tried looking in the scangauge threads but only one reply I found had any information which seemed to show that the SGII reads correct speed and the same as GPS calculations)... Those of you with the later model Prados and scangauges can you confirm what speed you read on the SGII compared with the speedo and if possible a GPS? If the SGII is correct or much closer that the speedo I will be tempted to get one."
Any comments SGII users?
