Well bugger me!
Lacey bought us the scanguageII from Wooders last week and I've just flown home from work and plugged it in and guess what? It doesn't work!!!! What a bugger. Rang David and he said try it on another car and still nothing. Tried to force connect and still zip!. He said send it back and he will try it on his car. If it is buggered he will replace it.....Cool......Guess what?.......... He hasn't got any in stock, argggghhhh. Still waiting on his shipment.
I feel I am doomed on this.Regards,
Big Fella

Scanguage II are worth their weight in fuel/gold - Actually a whole lot more. Wouldn't be without one. I got mine two months ago and plugged it into the Mazda6 petrol as the Prado wasn't even ordered then. The economy figures rates the same as the Mazda6 trip computer. Good stuff.SSSHHHH be very very quiet were huntin wabbits.

My Scanguage II does not automatically come on sometimes. It seems to be happening more frequently lately (at least 2 to 3 times a week). When I do notice it I activate it manually however it stuffs (techo language) my readings when I fill up. I've seen someone mention this problem before but can't find it again (damn).
Any other lonely soul out there with a similar prob?

G'day PeteS,
Long time no speak
This is the thread I think you are after
http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic....r=asc&start=30
And the interesting bitjust received this email from Scanguage regaridng my question.
"The ScanGaugeII turns on when the alternator starts charging the battery and raising the electrical voltage. There must be a voltage rise of 0.3V or more in 1.3 seconds or less.
Do this - Set up VLT as one of the gauges and let the ScanGaugeII go to sleep in the gauges screen. The next time, before you start the vehicle, press the HOME button to activate the ScanGaugeII. Start the vehicle and see how long it takes for the charging system to raise the voltage to 13 Volts. Most vehicles can do this in less than 2 seconds"Pedro

I too have this problem but strangely it seems to vary with different colours selected for the display. Some colours it happens more frequently than others.Roll on the 2010 Pradopoint GTG

Thanks for the link Pedro, I knew I had seen it sometime ago.
Interesting re the colours Mav as I've been trying to find out if there's any sequence of buttons I push that may cause it not to fire up the next time. I rarely alter the colour of the display. Also note Matt how it does it in your ute also. I'll contact Dave from Woodgers today and see if he knows anything re this issue. I'll get back to ya all...

Hi Pete
Long time no hear
I have the same problem sometimes and I never change anything (colours or gauges) it is still set up basically the same as the first day I fitted it. Will be interesting to hear the outcome but I have never checked figures with fillup etc although I have noticed a couple of times the quantity of fuel taken has been out by 2-3 litres even though I fill to overflow every time.06 GXL D4D, 6spd, Snorkel, ARB bar, XS900 50w HID lights, 55W HID Headlight upgrades, T/bar, 7" GPS, QStarz data logger, 52L Bushman Fridge, Premier winch, Sandgrabbas, GME TX3440, AE4705 antenna, Scangauge II, Dual Batteries, Aero bars & rack, Drawers, 2" Ironman/Rancho/King lift, Under bonnet compressor, Black ducks, Voltage booster, Rear table, AVE TPMS,

Yes it seems a common problem. Matt mentioned the Scanguage does not wake up sometimes when plugged into his ute so i'm thinking it's not just a Prado related problem. Dave from Woodgers has emailed me back with some preliminary feedback from the manufacturer and is still chasing some more details.
Hopefully I'll have some more info sooooooooooooooon.

Interesting issue. I've just taken delivery of my new D4D and have transfered my ScanguageII after previously using it in the 2005 V6 where this problem didn't happen. Since putting it in the new D4D last weekend, I have had the "wake-up" problem several times. It may be something to do with more recent Prados perhaps.AndrewH

Hi gang. Details received so far from Dave at Woodgers:
Below is the response I have received from ScanGauge. Needless to say I don’t think this is likely given the age of your vehicle – so I’ll pursue this further with them – but thought I;d best keep you abreast of things.
“The way we determine that the vehicle is started is to look at the battery voltage. When the engine starts, the alternator quickly starts sending charge to the battery. This causes a voltage rise. We look for at least 0.3V rise in less than 1.3 seconds. If this happens, the ScanGaugeII automatically wakes up.
If the alternator is weak, the voltage will not come up fast enough for this sensing to work.”
Cheers,
