Pedro, in the instruction booklet for the reverse sensor's it talks about them being de activated when you plug in your trailer wiring, haven't tried it yet. But i will check this out next week when the trailer is on. Try it before you spend the money.

Pedro, the 694'e were $650, the problem is noboby wants the Grandtreks, any of the big dealers like BJT Chermside already have about five spare sets.

I can get the 5 694's for a $330 change over figure through Bob Jane.
Still trying to work out if this is the way to go.
The Bob Jane guy tells me there is nothing wrong with the Grand Treks now, and all that is needed is a good wheel alignment and wheel balance after about 5000kms.
He said their machine is calibrated every 2 days and I think I will give him a go with the alignment either way.

Pedro
This is an excellent price, take it.
Nothing wrong with Grandcraps hehehe he really doesnt want them.
Mate bought identical prado to mine 5 days after me, his grandtreks are almost due for replacement, 25000 kms out of them only.
Last trip on gravelly roads, he had 3 punctures at 28 PSI within a day.
My 694's did same trip, albeit I suffered a puncture because i hadnt lowered my pressures.
Mine have 17000 kms on them and arent even a 1/3 worn yet.
Grandcraps are about $190 to the dealer cost, 694's anything around $100 or less trade in is good value.
I paid $250 changeover from memory, but did not drive on the grandtreks at all, I had them couriered from pre-delivery to the tyre place (bridgestone) and back to avoid road miles.
I find the machine being calibrated every two days a bit of a bold statement.
I have 12 BJ dealerships as clients and they do them every 2-3 months at the maximum, some only every 6 months.
The systems do have a self test feature, this is more what he is saying I would think.
Thanks Team Piggy,
My previous vehicle was a L/C (bought 2nd hand) with Grand Treks and I was very disappointed with them.
As part of my investigation into possible reason for poor performance I heard from several sources that the calibration of machines is critical to the readings they give.
I proved it on one occasion when I had readings done on same day at two different machines I got 2 different (fair difference too) readings.
Being mechanically challenged, I don't know if this is true but it seems to be logical.
Will check the new price of 694's tomorrow and take it from there.
By the way you said

From experience with a local Bob Jane I can imagine they were not done regularly as the readings on mine showed very different readings over short periods with no rough driving.
The Bob Jane man I spoke to tells me he bought a calibration machine and that is why he can do it every 2 days.
Don't know the cost of a calibration machine and would appreciate any advce on this and whether it is likely he would have his own calibration machine.
?? Sounds fishy to me, most of the units have them internally. A lot of the BJ dealerships use probase or similar (some use another odd name) and they use strings as the form of measurement still attached to points on the machine.
Who calibrates his calibrater is now the question?
