The latest ARB newsletter has a letter to the editor (pg.11) re why they don't make 120 side rails. Answer is they don't get enough interest. So the action is, if you want side rails for your 120, email ARB.

I was actually referring to the side rails, to protect the front guard, not steps

I sent an email to ARB @ 10:30 after reading the article. Response at 12:15 from the product manager :shock:, saying mine was the second request asking for AIRBAG complient steps and bars, talk about great service. So C'mon guys they are paying attention and these are definitely something missing from the market and on a lot of people shopping lists. It would be nice to get something before we are driving 170 series

also been looking for some time, there are plenty of 120 out there and it appears they are able to do fo the 150 . we need more people to put preasure on arb.

G'day all,

I wrote the email to 'ask ARB' about the side steps that appeared in the online mag. I also thought its was worthy of winning the compressor :wink: , but Im pretty happy with the puncture kit consolation prize. It'll make a great christmas present for my brother in law.

I was considering making some DIY steps as I have metal fabricatiors in my family, however I just wanted to know why ARB don't make them, before I caused any potential damage to the car. I had a suspicion that it may have had something to do with the chasis flex that I've heard about, but clearly not. Its more about popularity as stated in ARB's response.

I think that this is the forum to raise interest that could create the popularity required for ARB to make the steps and any other products we may want from them. If you want Side steps, sliders, or scrub bars made by ARB, you should send them an email. Perhaps even attach the link to the Prado Point page on DIY side steps to show just how much interest is already out there.

I would imagine it would only take about 30 emails to trigger them to start the design phase.

Would have to agree with the article and the dissapointment from most forum members.
I'm of the opinion that the 120 Series isn't a popular model that has ever warranted steel sliders or side protection bars.
More popular models ie. Hilux, do often have more aftermarket gear availabe.
I've also discussed the matter with 2 x ARB stores here in Brisbane and with a local TJM store a year ago, and both have referred me to other 4WD fabricators to have them made.

Perhaps channelling your enquiry through to ARB's National office will get you more traction, but like most members on here you can easily get them made from other fabricators without hassel.

I sent an email off to head office, now we just need a couple more thousand emails to go through and maybe they will make them.

They now make them for 150 Prado's so perhaps 120 is not far off .... hopefully.

Thats unacceptable! i want both side rails and sliders for my 120. I just emailed ARB expressing my interest in both.... lets hope they get a few more emails and start the process..

I've given up hope as I was told it was highly unlikely that they would start making them for an older vehicle. Think I'll get some custom ones make up, least then I can ask for no checker plate - God I hate that stuff!
