  • rear end of car

    Hi
Just sold the Ford territory and bought a Prado 03, took is offroad on the weekend and had a blast.
in amongst other things I managed to slight crack the rear bumper bar.
I understand about angle of approach for the front (bumper v's Alloy v's Steel, steel having the greater angle) what about the rear bumper?

Given I need to repair the bumper, what other options are available?

Sorry if I have not posted in the correct area

Great Forum, very interesting reading and looking forward to going bush again next weekend

kaymar bar is a good option, if you dont mind dishing out the cash, it also doubles as a towbar so the cost isn't as outrageous, especially if you dont get the wheel swings.

just the bar alone, without the wheel swings is $1844 + fitting

no its just an exceptional piece of engineering.
when you remove the price of a toyota genuine towbar ($1000), its only 844... which isn't that bad.
the swing arms are the expensive part at $766 for a tyre carrier and $905 for a dual jerry can holder...

                $$ !!! That much? Maybe that's why I've been roped into designing a rear bar for a colleague's BT50.

I priced up a rear bar from 'sports range 4x4'.
I was quoted about $1200 with carriers and all. PRetty sure that was fitted too. Much better.

maybe ring a few wreckers or even ring a few of the 4wd accessory shops, they might have a bumper sitting around that they might want to part with. cheers samo

umm arent we in the 120 series section talking about an 03 Prado?

I can't comment on the price though as mine was on it when I got the car.

Edit - just looked on ebay $445 for genuine towbar for 120.
                          $620 for a 150 series
