    Hi,
has anybody used spacers (between the body and the chassis) to a new PRADO (after 2003 model) in order to achieve a body lift?
The height I had in mind using this methos is 1 inch.

    Hi Leonardo,

I would avoid a body lift on your type of vehicle (being such a new vehicle), try to go for a suspension lift if you can afford it. But that is just my personal opinion.

      Hi TEPUI,
      Many thanks for your reply.
Please tell me the reasons not to use such a lift.
I have no problem fitting the suspension lift.
I hear that the suspension lift is not good, because, especially for the front wheels, you change the angle of the front differential to the wheels (I believe you know what I mean) and this is not recomended.
If I proceed with an OME lift, I was thinking a 2inch susp.lift

        Leo,

I am not very familiar with the new prado's structure, but when doing a body lift, even a 1 inch, you may need to relocate your bumpers, you may also experience problems with the steering column and shifters. Not to mention radiator, etc.

I would disagree with your comment about the suspension lifts. A lot of engineering research and testing is put into the development of these kits, if you chose Old Man Emu, you can't go wrong.

But again, I am no expert in the new prado, you may want to wait till the Australians users start posting to get their feedback.

In any case, good luck with whatever you chose to do, you got a nice rig, and I'd hate to see you do something you will regret later.

just to add on what good advice TEPUI gave, generally body lift is done to fit bigger tyres, the body is raised from the chassis so you don't really get any benefit apart from the fact that the sills are higher off the ground and you can fit bigger tyres.

The amount of buggerising around that this involves is really a waste of time IMHO.

And as far as fitting bigger tyres goes, I wouldn't really want to put much more that 265/75's on there anyway especially as the 120's have the same axle as the 2.4l hilux (i am told) otherwise you will be busting stuff all the time.

A mild suspension lift (say 2 - 3") should be sufficient, you get a little bit more clearance of the chassis and better articulation off road. The main benefits of suspension mods are really handling and load carrying.

It all comes down to what you want to do and how far you want to go (and also how much money you want to waste!), but given that you have bought a Prado, I'd assume you're more into the capaple touring side of things as opposed to rock crawling and the likes.

            Hope that helps

            Cheers

            Chris

              Hi Chris,
All I want is more suspension travel and more ground clearence.
Do you think I can take that with a 2 inch OME suspension lift?
