  • Rattle In Drivers Door??

    Hi,

My 03' V6 Grande has an annoying rattle inside the drivers door, a metal on metal sound, has anyone experienced this before? And are the door skins easy to remove???

Also my blinker, only turning right, is making an echo-blinker sort of sound from the right rear quarter, like the rear blinker is playing up, 2 annoying sounds that are gonna bug me when I drive it to the Gold Coast on 25th March.

    Thanks guys, Glen.

Check the little plastic clips that hold the outer plastic skin onto the door. Standing outside and open palm tapping the door diagnoses. The clips bust regularly and cause this noise. Usually the orange one front lower is the culprit. $5 from Toyota spares. No need to open door trim up to replace it.

          Hi Lenny,

With regards to the blinker, mine makes the same noise, but I only notice, or notice it more, when the seats are folded down, must be more room for echo. There may be a secondary flasher can in the rear quarter...

As for the noise in the door, NFI....

Drive safe up to the GC

I could be wrong, but I think the extra flasher unit is fitted with the towbar?

                Hi,

The flasher noise is a set of relays in the LHS rear quarter that supply power for the trailer hitch. They Isolate the main lights from the trailer, there is a separate fuse for the trailer lights, that way if there is a problem with the trailer wiring it should only effect the trailer not the car.

Shite!! You guys are a wealth of knowledge!! I reckon PP musta saved people a heapa hassle and cash solving all these little niggly problems, thanks eh, the blinker business makes total sense.

The door rattle, i've tapped the plastic outa skin and is does have a rattle...cheers Piggy, just gota get down to ground level and have a look inside for those clips, damn these old shark bitten legs!

Extractors and K&N filter seem to have made it a bit more driveable, the exhaust guy at Bennetts Green was pretty clued in, he reckons the computer may need a bit of time to adjust itself, and Pacemakers supplied and fitted was $850, pricey for a few Kw I reckon but its gota make it easier on the engine I would think.

I had an ARB Sahara Bar fitted yesty at Newcastle ARB and all seems good so far, $1909 supplied and fitted with the foglights. Bit of a gap between the bar and body, 25mm maybe, you can see a fair few bolt holes from the old front guard and am gona try and find some rubber angle to cover this gap, any ideas would be appreciated as it looks a little dodgy. I'll post some photos when I work out how to do it.

                  Cheers, Glen.

The noise of the blinker is the relays in the rear quarter above the jack.

Wrap some foam around them and then race tape or electrical tape. Sound goes away. Its the trailer harness thats the culprit. Mine was the same before i foamed them.
