  • Underbody Carwash in Brisbane??

    Guys,

Recently came back from a beach trip and went to my local Carwash at the shopping centre and the Slovakian guy that runs it does an awesome job at cleaning the car but has little concept of what is involved as far as a thorough underbody wash. The only thing he was interested in was trying to sell me rustproofing!! :?

Anyone out there that knows of a decent 4WD carwash that does the works? Southside of Brisbane preferable but will travel if I have to.

Can't wait until water restrictions rack off so that I can do it myself. I hate paying money for something I can do myself....

    Thanks,

    Paul

          Hey Ubersarge,

Depending on where you are and how much you want to do the work yourself I visit the Mobile servo on Wondall Road Wynnum. It is a do it yourself job, but they have the gurney's there to get under the car with.

Have a flexible head on them to so you stick it right in the chassis rails and clean them out.

            Hey Hutch

I just got back from Fraser and will be looking at these guys this week for an underbody wash.

How long do they need the car for?

              Re: Underbody Carwash in Brisbane??

2-3 hours they are done, they normally drop my bash plates etc to give it a thorough clean. Need to ring and book in.

How was the trip, hope we are getting a trip report.

Thanks Hutch! Yep - will def give them a call and book it in!

Will get around to a trip report, this is really the first serious time I have taken the Prado off road and I must say its an absolute bottler!

I will be sure to mention the run around Hook Point 3 hours before high tide where I gave my side step a little 'shaping' on a tree stump!

Just had my visit at the lubritorium.

Awesome service! I had got under the car with a hose and thought I had done a good job, that was until I saw the cleaning bay after it was washed at Downey St! There was at least 1/2 bucket of sand that was washed out!

Well worth the hour and $85 (its gone up a bit Hutch!)

Good to know about that business.
I used to use the high pressure wash at the BP at Rainbow Beach after being on Fraser and felt it did a pretty reasonable job at cleaning the underside of the 4X4. But when we came back last time in August the pressure wash was gone and the bay was only being used for reinflating tyres. There's an underbody wash place in one of the back streets of Rainbow which sprays an oily mix up under the vehicle for 5 minutes or so (like the one on the Noosa north shore) which seems to be OK. But we went into a do-it-yourself place in Gympie just before the Rainbow Beach road meets the Bruce Highway heading south, deposited a few gold coins in the machine, and dropped an enormous amount of sand from under the Prado. It's a location worth keeping in mind if you're planning to go the Fraser Island.
                    Cheers

Zoom Car Wash, cnr Logan Rd and Abbotsleigh Rd (the old service station site) Holland Park, has a simple underbody wash in one of the self serve bays (at extra cost, about $6 for 3 minutes). We use it whenever we have been out playing, seems to do a good enough job!

That will never get the sand out, these guys put the car up on a hoist 5ft off the ground, flood the chassis rails pull off the bashplates and absolutely flood the car underneath until the water turns clear.

Sounds like a great wash but I would make sure you check your diff & transmission oils for water & sand contamination, its amazing what a water blaster can push through your oil seals & damage componetry

It is not that high pressuresd most of it is a hose up the chassis until the water is clear, around the diffs are normally fairly clean, i have never had an issue.
