  • Can I get a winch on standard ARB bar?

    Hi,
Just want to know if its worth my time trying to put a winch on the standard ARB bull bar? What would be involved? Has anyone done it or is it justnot worth the time?

If you couldn't be bothered selling it on Ebay, see how much ARB want to buy it off you for. I got $250 for my old alloy bar when I had the new steel one fitted. The 4wd equipment stores do make money off your old bar by re-selling it themselves or for recycling.

I don't see why you cant get a winch mounting plate welded in and brackets to support

Because you void the bars airbag compliance, next question?

Does a winch plate bolted in between the chassis rails automatically void airbag compliance??

I wouldn't think so, if done correctly.

It would save me allot of cash if it could! Looking at powerful 4x4 front and rear bars and it ain't cheap!

You still need to modify the split pan on the bar to get to the fairlead again voiding compliance.

Oh and you would need airbag compliance on the 'winch plate'

What D4D said x2. Have the same problem with mine as I got a free winch from work but car had an ARB standard bar on it when brought it. Personally I don't reckon it would be too hard to do but as D4D has said "big can of worms" and I'm not opening it.
