Raslarr Rear Bar

So I finally got my rear bar fitted over the weekend. I am very happy with it. I will post photos in the next couple of days once I get home and have some time. The bar goes right around to the rear wheels, so I have new rubber mud guards. The bar is 6mm steel with the side "wings" 3mm steel. The only thing that I think a lot of people may not like is that to fit the bar, I no longer have the little red reflectors; it is now a hole in the body. It's hard to see with the wheel carrier and the jerry can holder on, however if you took these off it will be very noticeable. I don't care myself because I understand why its been done as it is a compromise. If the reflectors were left there, the bar would be an easy 10mm wider out the back. I think i can putty up the holes and paint it to make it less noticeable, but its very much a permanent thing. I now however have approx 75mm extra clearance at the back and approx 50mm extra clearance behind the rear wheels, not that that really matters.

Raslarr is the company that did it, which is based in Mt Evelyn in Victoria. I am happy for people to PM if they want contact details. I was the 1st Prado he has ever done, and now he has made the template he should be able to make them a lot quicker and easier.

Ok some quick photos i took tonight. Will have better ones when i actually get home in the day light for once!





This photo shows the hole that has been cut. It looks worse in the photo than in person. Its the same on both sides.



This shows the handles. This is what won the SWMBO over. Very easy to use, don't cause you knuckles to hit the bar when open/ closing the arms. Locks in real tight.


Cost is $2350 for what you see. The reverse lights in the bar are very bright. I love em! Am waiting for Kaymar Pole Light thing because i used to have the Kaymar SPare wheel spacer and he retro fitted the pole mount from that to the spare wheel arm.

I don't know how heavy it is AJ but it is sturdy and the car hasn't dropped noticeably with my super heavy duty springs. WIll show you at the G2G. PS- he loved your sliders!

I really like the fact that the bars goes all the way around to the wheel arch.
Is there a particular reason why the bar couldn't go back another few mm to avoid the cutouts in the rear moulding?

If only they could set it up so that when you open the back door, the spare swings with it on its own carrier (it can be done - ARB have done it on a Jeep Wrangler rear bar) I would leave the spare in close to original position, I don't need provision for a second or a jerry can holder and it would cover up that indent iin the rear door.

The only reason that I was happy with it was because it's a hell of a lot less metal/ weight, keeping the bar just those few mm slimmer. it is amazing the difference those few mm will make. This guy is fully custom so if you want the bar further out, he could do it. I am thinking I might putty it up and paint it. Maybe.

Thanks for the info, and I really wasn't having a shot. I like your Razzlar bar better than anything I have seen elsewhere, and it is on my wishlist. The crappy plastic bits all over the 120 are a pain in the AR$E IMO, and are the only thing I really don't like about the vehicle.

I understand that the cut out bits wont be most peoples idea of "good looking." Took me a while to decide to do it myslef. Seeing the finished product though I am happy with it. Plus I can now carry 80 litres of water right now without working out how to carry more. Should do us for a week easy.
