  • Rear Door Hard to Open - Sag Adjustment?

    Hi

Rear door is often hard to open, handle pulls but door won't move.

Seems to be an issue with misalignment due to sagging?

    Anyone else had this problem?

    Tony
    Cheers,

    G'day Tony,
Sounds like you have either a faulty lock/ handle or yes you might have a cracked door bracket. Do you need the key to open the door? Does the door sag after it is open and is away from the latch? Check your hinges and their mounting points for signs of cracking. The positive to all this is that its a great excuse for a rear bar and wheel carrier!

    Cheers,

Love it - my thoughts too - Kaymar he we come?

Door works fine if spare is off, then works fine when spare back on but only for a while.

No noitceable play in the door hinges, was thinking the door latch may need adjusting - is this possible?

      Cheers,

You can't adjust the latch. You have to loosen the bolts on the hinges as there is a bit of play available. This is easier to do when the spare is off the door. But shift the alignment above the latch as once you put the spare on, it will drop slightly.

          Gday buster.
My back door gave me hell when i was up the cape... And im not talking about my arse lol!
All the bulldust absolutlely choked the latching mechanism.
It actually jammed shut and i couldnt open it at all... A bit stressfull as i couldnt get to my drawers etc.
A mate showed me how to open it.
Push against the door so the rubbers compress and your taking the pressure off the latch.
Pull on the handle whilst pushing the door in. It should release the latch.
Silicone spray was the answer to ongoing mantenance.
Spray the stuff in the latch, handle & over the catch on the door frame.
On our return I found a good torx bit to adjust the catch out a couple of mm's...
It been all good since then...

          Did that make sense???

When i was up there last year we had 2 other Prados with similar issues caused by the bulldust. As a result one wouldnt close/latch and the other wouldnt open at all.Yes silicone spray worked well.

BusterOz the other possibility i have experienced is that something gets caught between the door which then causes issue with opening the door.Recently the anderson plug/alligator adaptor fell out of the door from the storage basket/rope section which annoyed the wife as she could not get the food out of the cargo area.
