  • Thumbs up for an AMTS bashplate

Got under the car last night to drop the AMTS bashplate prior to dropping the car off this morning for some work on the auto transmission.

Blown away by the size of the dint in the plate, I don't even remember where it might have happened. I suspect it was the recent Sundown trip but truth be told I haven't peeked under the prado's skirts for quite a while..

The white markings on the plate are chunks of granite "ground" into the steel. These plates are seriously tough! The original would have been rusting by the roadside after that sort of impact. Well done AMTS.

I second your sentiments regarding the plates. Good job AMTS

And here I was thinking it was the black plastic and baby oil that scared the neighbours.

Black plastic and baby oil? Do you live nearby?

                    It could have been different.

They could have been duds in which case an angry mob would be camped outside your place in camper trailer setups, lighting fires on your front lawn and demanding your children as compensation.

Its lucky the way things work out, especially given your street would struggle with 20+ campers outside

                    (keep up the good work)

I think the bash plates are too good. They don't allow much flex, if any. I removed mine the other day and the two mounting bolts behind the inspection plate for the engine drain plug were both bent. Haven't hit anything and it won't be a big deal, just get two new bolts. I was going to get high tensile however I want the bolts to bend, not snap if the bash plate needs some give.

Yes, great work Andrew. Fitted mine up today in less than 10 minutes. Alas, no more ARB sticker.
