went for a trip culvert fishing out near window on the wetlands and marrakai track, anyways did a few water xings and on the deepest 500mm, i noticed my carpet was all wet. Now for a $50k car i expect the bungs or door seals to be alot better, soon as i got home i stripped out the seats, door trims, kick panels, centre console all so i could get my carpet out to dry, and too check my bungs, as i suspected one must be loose as the water came in fairly quick.

when i checked them all they seemed fine, so i silasticated them up and also where the body work is pressed/stamped together under the door trims. hopefully this will prevent alot of the water ingress???

Has anyone else had these problems with water xings???

    G'day Matty

There's a couple of lads been through similar dramas.

    Have a look here http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic.php ... ght=#23286

... and for a really radical dry-out technique check out some of Matt (WA)'s pics http://www.pbase.com/mattsiv/prado&page=all

    Cheers

well if its a common thing, has anyone found the reason why, ie as to where its leaking and have they stopped or slowed the flow, myself i could only see that its coming through the bungs or through where they bodywork is stamped.

It can come in through the door trims.

There are drainage holes in the bottom of the doors outside the seal, so when you travel too long or to slowly through water the door can fill with water.
Then the only thing then stopping it from entering the car is the plastic sheet they stick behind the door trim, which has holes in it for cables and the clips that hold the trim on.

All cars have this design or something similar.

          Hey Matty,
I'm guessing my problem was that i was almost bonnet Deep when it happend to me......and the fact that i was dragged out backwards probabily didnt help the situation.....
          Cheers,

Matt something that took me by surprise when we were up the cape was that I spilt a heap of water just above where the foot step is just inside the back passenger door (seats were folded forward) and it started running out underneath the car virtually right above where I spilt it!

I haven't had a good look underneath yet but you've just reminded me to check it out.

            Crammy

            * Also check in behind the plastic trim where the jack is. The guys a toyota left one of mine unplugged when they installed my rear parking sensors
