Every time you polish out a scratch you have to re apply the paint protection. You will never convince me to put it on a 4WD again ever.

It is easy to re-apply the paint protection.
I just asked for a small bottle of the protectant and use it as required.
Sold the Prado. Now FJ Cruiser

It would appear there's some merit to getting paint protection. The guys who have actually done (as opposed to arm-chair theorising...) it seem happy. My problem with the whole concept is the rip off costs associated, but this applies to most dealer 'extras'. It's the "Do you want fries with that?" of the auto industry.

Considering the nature of 4WD's intended use it should be included as standard. Heck, even the school run 4WD mums would benefit from it against the odd city scrapes.

Too late for mine as it's already got a few scratches, but over the last couple of years I've learned that a damn good waxing that I apply at home does help quite a bit too. Not only does it hide the existing scratches, but it prevents many new ones from appearing as shrubs, branches etc. 'glide' off the surface due to it being 'slippery'. Without a good waxing the branches etc. have more friction to work with, which is what causes the scratches in the first place.

With all the fruit bats around my place its worth getting, even just as an insurance policy. My work ute (05 Mits Triton) has paint peeling off the bonet and roof, and the longest the bat crap has been left is 1 day. That stuff is lethel to paint.

I think lots of us are scared of small people. Now I hear dwarfs are extremely scary, but have not met one yet so it is only hearsay!

Now our saving grace is Chippy drives a white Prado, so after all, he is not as scary as we might initially have thought. On the other hand, if he drove a Nissan, then that would be good reason to be scared.

I also have the fabric protection....no dirty seats even with kids, work tools and parts, etc sitting on the seats.
Also had this protection on my 90 series.
I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE - WELL WORTH THE COST

Fantastic! I just ordered a new Prado today and opted for the paint pack, Just reading these forums now I was worried it was a dumb decision, but at least someone seems to like it!

Can you use the high pressure hose and detergents in the DIY car wash places?

Our prado has been paint protected and it looks like new when cleaned up after a run in the bush. We use Auto Glym, a super resin polish, to take away any scratches.

With the darkened windows and that nice gold colour it really stands out against the silver bullbar and the black snorkel.

I guess it comes down to personal preferences and how long you are keeping your Prado, we plan on the long haul.

                            Hello all,

Still singing the praises for the paint protection that was applied when I bought my car new in 2004. It is now over 4 years later and I still to this day have not had to put even a sniff of wax to the duco.

Have just finished a 12,000 km epic trip from Perth to Alice, up the Tanami, all the Gibb River Road and Cape Leveque, back up the Gibb and across the Savannah way to Innisfail and still the Prado shines sooooo pretty. Even the people that detailed her to get the red dust out were surprised at how the duco came up.
Have done many dirt road trips up hills and down dales, through rivers, mud and beaches and she has never been garaged in her life.

To all of you out there who doubt its effectiveness, I invite you to come and see my Pearlie.
By the way, all that distance and I never saw another Pradopoint sticker.... Where are you all???? :?:
