as you may have guessed im trying to figure out the size of the bolts (short and long) for the OEM Bash plates on the sump, thread size and length and the cage nuts at the front, I have already replaced the cage nuts but I want to source some high tensile and rust proof, anyone found some good ones??

Oops, I read "caged nuts" and thought you were referring to Dodgy Dave (Pradogxl)

The cage nuts on the front of the centre plate on ARB bar bash plate are M6 x 1.0 and the bolts are 20mm long.

The ones on the OE bash plate are M8 x 1.25, not sure on the length off the top of my head but 30mm should do the job.

      Cheers Andrew

Use stainless steel ones, they will be the most rust resistant.
And / or Spray with fish oil as well.

Thanks, do these need to be riveted in?

Might have to do that with mine, I am missing one. Obviously no issues sticking a round peg in a square hole so to speak.

As for anything rusting, I use Never Seize on just about everything that I remove and replace on the Prado, best stuff ever. Just make sure to only use a small amount as a little goes a very long way with this stuff.

                  Cheers Andrew

Try this link to understand rivnuts. They are a few types but you will get an understanding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeaMsvai0FA

You CAN also do rivnuts without a tool. a washer, bolt and nut of same thread are needed.

Looks like a good fix, do they sit in the square slots or is it best to re-drill? thanks

Coming from an Audio/computers background my idea was to get some rack strip lengths with pre drilled M6, sort of like this but only the threaded bit. if the holes lined up you could have 2 lengths that wouldn't move independently, but might be tricky to get the first bolt in..

They are unlikely to line up as RUs are in multiples of imperial units. The bullbar mounting positions are in metric.
