Side mirror is loose

I have a 2005 GXL. I noticed the other day that the driver's side mirror is loose. The black portion connected to the door is fine, but the silver mirror part above the black part is looser than the mirror on the passenger side. The mirror otherwise works fine. Has anyone had this problem and can suggest a fix? I noticed there is a small panel under the mirror, but don't want to press things in case I break something. Is removal of this panel where I can go to fix the mirror? I have checked a few threads that discuss replacement of the mirror but that doesn't seem to be the issue in my case.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes. You can remove this panel and find the torque screws to tighten. They can strip easily so be careful. There are 3 to tighten, check the loosest first and start there.

The panel will need some persuasion, small flat blade screw driver, carefully will remove it.

All fixed. Car was due for a service, so I left it to the mechanic. He removed the cover and tightened the 3 screws. He did report that one of the screws was stripped, but the other two are holding, so all's well.
