DIY rear bar

Just wondering on cheap rear bar ideas. I really need to improve the departure angle already damaged rear bumper. I was thinking could I cut about 100mm of the rear bumper and replace with a slider style tube around where I cut. Any one done anything similar?

No reason you cant Jonnie, lots of people on here have modified the bars or added full on swing away tyre carriers etc. I will be making up a custom rear bar soon you will be able to see in my build up thread. As long as you're handy with a welder, grinder etc give it a crack.
