  • Loose Socket - Central Mirror

    Hay mates

good to be back after some holidays

I noticed today that my central mirror is loosing it's place once I change the knob settings (Night driving vs day driving)

The mirror simply shift off base downwards once I revert to daylight driving position -knob at the back-

Had any one experienced this before , I still have 52K on my rig and I've been pampering it -from new- for the last 2 1/2 years so I still have warranty -which am going to go for Toyota upon the next service.

I am suspecting that the socket key in the mirror is broken -the section that rests on the ball- , I can see a crack in the ring placer though it's neat to the point it looks as a normal space from the factory

Had anyone experienced this before ??

    Cheers Everyone

    Guess What

Oh Just a recap since no Answers I presume I started a 1st at PP

I went today to toyota , they looked at the mirror , fiddled with ot , said the funniest thing ever

"Sir , you might been on pumby unpaved road and the socket lost postition"

My answer was , "So" its a 4x4 you idiots it belongs to "unpaved roads"

ANy ways they tried to fix it with pushing , ended by loosining it more - They shall replace it under warranty -55K on mine , 5K to go -

Cost of a new one will be around AU$80 for the mirror and around AU$50 for the holder , they come as separate parts but to no vail they would replace both

    I shall keep you posted

Just rememebr - DON'T DRIVE YOUR PRADO'S ON "UNPAVED ROADS" OR TOYOTA IS GONNA DENY IT 8) 8)  he he
