  • Washing with Kero

    Hi All

Had the underbody sprayed yesterday for rust protection and the old spray painter was talking about using Kero. He said it is the best. You only need a cap ful in a bucket of water. It cleans the paint without harming the paint.

What are your thoughts? I have heard of this before from a few spray painters. Any spray painters/panel beaters out there have any opinions?

In my younger days when i worked at the Holden dealer we would do exactly the same thing after a rust proof or when the cars arrived as they had plenty of other crap on them, i not certain about todays modern paint work, but your would have to think it is better than when i washed "85" model commodores.

my first job out of school was as a detailer in a Toyota dealership of all places back in the mid to late eighties. We used a fair bit of kero to get the wax of the cars that were imports which was just about all of them.

Kero on a rag is also good to remove tar from your machine

don't know about as a wash but if you want get bugs and tar off WD40 is what I use. We also used it in the past for detailing equipment with the black cast plastic bits.

Not to mention it is probably the best starter fluid

I do want to do something in regards to underbody rust protection and still a bit unsure. We go to Stockton beach at times and going along the water you will get wet sand salt water everywhere :!:
