Scrapes and Scratches

I have a very tight right turn out of my garage and into a laneway at the back of my place. The other day I took the turn slightly too wide and the left hand corner of the front bumber brushed along the rusty galvenised fence opposite my garage.

Not happy would be a mild description of my feelings but it was totally my fault :cry: :cry: :cry:

The result is some scratches on the bumper and I am wondering if anyone can recommend/suggest any products that might help restore (well almost anyway) the bumper to its former glory.

By the way, my Prado, which I love, is black.

in some sort of wierd way... I think I'd prefer this than having someone anonymously remodel your car in a carpark!

As for the scratchs... it depends! If they are thru the clear-coat, then it's probably a job for a professional (spray painter). If they are light, then a mild cut'n'polish might do the trick.

It isn't a 4wd without a few war wounds. No-one needs to know how you got it.

Unless it really annoys you, leave it and get them all done just before you sell it.

Try one of those mobile dent repair guys. Do you have "Touch up guys" up there?

You are probably right. I'll just pretend it was a dirty big tree half across some track!

I was thinking about VIP Mobile Detailing service to get it fixed. They sound good if you read their WWW page but I don't know anyone that's had any first hand experience.

if you end up getting it buffed, let us know how it looks, with before and after pics... i've been toying with the idea of getting a few of the front to back scratches i've aquired buffed out, but at the end of they day, i'm only going to end up putting new ones there!

the oldies gold colour has some benefits, it hides them well..

you're lucky.. the bumber plastic itself is black.. you should look what it looks like on my silver one :cry: ... i just went to the newsagent and got a silver marker pen and coloured it back in..

my bumper has a lot of damage from going offroad..
