  • Click when lowering front passenger window

    Hello,
I get a 'click' just a single click when I lower the front passenger window.
This happens about half way down, in the same place every time.
    No problems going up.
I think the glass is touching some thing in the door as it go's down.
Perhaps a rod which connects the inside door opening lever to the release on the door side face.?

    Any one else had this?

Any info where to remove the inner door cards, switches etc.

I can't just leave it, so Iwill either send it into Toyota, or see if I can find the method of removing the door card.

i would rather do it myself, but I need a guide on how to strip the inside off.

Re: Click when lowering front passenger window

I took the door trim off a few months back and had a look, nothing obvious going on in there so I put it back together as I was doing the 80k service at the same time.

I will have to take it apart again some time tho as it still does it. The tint has a scratch from top to bottom so it must be something hitting the glass and it sounds like something hitting or scraping it.

Does it do it when the door is open or closed?
The keeper that stops the door is only thin metal in plastic. Mine started making the sound when my D@#$head brother in law
opened the door without holding it and the wind blew it open.
If the keeper is "straighted" by being forced open then it catches on the window and track when the door is closed. take the panel off and check the clearance, even a new one has only a few mm's between it and the track. The keeper should have a slight bend in it and if its straightened its evident where the plastic moulds around the steel part, a gap can be seen.

Im not sure if it does it when open, I have not noticed.

When you say keeper, do you mean the check link that holds the door open that can be seen in the door jam? If so, is the part that bends (keeper) the actual bar that connects to the frame and disapears into the door when closed or something inside the door?

Re: Click when lowering front passenger window

Yes its the part that you see when the door is open. Its a steel inner section with a plastic moulding over it that is tapered in part to slide through the piece in the door. It has a slight bend in it so as it passes through the part in the door jam it only slightly clears the window track. The gap I mentioned is where the metal part is covered by the plastic moulding, my bent one showed a 1 or 2mm gap. I straightened mine by clamping it around the towbar to try to get the right shape. If you remove the inner trim and look in with a mirror you will see if it is catching. the click should be when the window rail passes the keeper.

                  Hi Gents,

A little late but, check out the post "Front door window track damage" in this section. There's a couple of raves, including mine, that alude to this very problem, and you're right Sparksey, it all starts when the door is whacked backed against the end of the keeper.

                  Cheers Mark
