'08 Onwards. Center Console Dashboard Surround.

Hi All

I couldn't find any topic's relating to this but I am trying to find a centre dash surround that may allow for an additional DIN below the climate control unit. In the '08 model onward starting from the top is the double DIN CD/radio unit, then the digital climate control screen and what appears to be a blank single DIN in size just below. Does anyone know if there is a DIN behind this section of panel and has anyone seen a replacement surround that has this opening?

I'm planning on installing a UHF in this location if possible, I know there are the all in one hand receiver with display whereby you can hide the head unit however my preference is to have the display on the head unit. The Perth 4x4 show is on this weekend $$$$$.

I doubt there is much behind there Nick, I think in the GX and GXL that is where the knobs are for manual air con.............................can you imagine such a thing, manually adjusting your air conditioning........ ops:

Thanks XVPrado, yeah I remember having to open the window :lol:

I just found a thread "Dashboard Facia Removal" and there is another link within that which shows the dismantling of the dash and it looks like there is nothing behind this panel like you assumed. Man, if you don't use the correct word/s for the search you're buggered finding anything! :wink:

So my second question remains whether there is an after market console surround that has an opening for it, hopefully someone knows of one.

There is some plastic cross bracing and the heater/ventilation box behind there. I'd pull it off and do some measuring before buying a UHF.

While I think you'll be right facia size wise the depth may get you. Not much you can do about the heater/ventilation stuff but you can always do a little selective trimming of the bracing.
