  • Bulbar Install Tips

    Hi All,

New ARB winch bar was delivered today for my new D4D GXL, 1st job for Saturday... Just need some advice on removing the bumper, ARB instructions just say "remove bumper". don't want to damage anything getting it off.

    Thanks
    Peter

G'day Peter and welcome to the forum,

Mate, you just need a snatch strap - a big tree - and low range revese - let the D4D do the rest for you! :-)

Seriously now - please see the following from the FSM:

Don't get any grand ideas of selling your old bumper on eBay - I'm amazed at the number I see on there, with prices ranging from $10 to $500 and I don't remember seeing a single one sell!

Good luck with the install - I just had my Sovereign bullbar off and back on again to fit a winch. Good wholesome work! :-)

    Cheers,

    Drew.

Ha. I've had my '120 for 12 months and my Hellas are still in their box. And I work night shift, and I live in remote rural village on a long winding roo-infested road. Obviously my priorities are all messed up cause I haven't put my bright lights on yet! :-) Soon.

        Too many hobbies!

Now what to do in those idle hours between 2am and 4am.......

Cheers and good luck, -enjoy the beer when you are finished-

        Drew.

I've had an ARB winch bar on the front of my Prado for about two years. The problem I have is that the leading edges of the plastic inner guards are attached to the bottom, rear, of the bar with cable ties, which keep breaking with the normal movement of the body over corrugations - the rattling noise of the plastic inner guards is driving me nuts

A couple of questions. Has anyone discovered a different approach to securing the plastic inner guards to the bar, such that they do not rattle? And is there any benefit in trimming the inner guards away from the inside of the mudguard and bar?

ARB no longer attach the inner guard to the bar, they are trimed to clear.
