Re: Genuine 120 series bonnet strut price
Yeah what a ripp-off!
Recently made an interstate purchase of a 2003 Prado GXL and for QLD I was required to get a Safety Certificate (previously known as a Roadworthy Cert). The local K-Mart inspection faulted (as a inspection fail item I might add) that my bonnet struts weren't holding. They obtained a quote from Toyota... same thing $239 each!!!
Then I remembered about the Car Whizz guy that reconditions any gas-lifter / strut (automotive, household or otherwise). He's mobile, comes to where you are, and basically (provided the unit isn't physically damaged with a leak or something) will regas and replace some end bits, rings, seals (if needed). Charged me $85 each. Not cheap... but a lot less than OEM.2003 Prado GXL Auto 1KZ-TE; Sovereign bar; Rhino HD Aero; OI recovery points; Scorpion radiator protection plate; GME 3440; SandGrabba; MaxTrax; ARB portable compressor; Cargo barrier; GrandCraps; and one long wishlist...
