  • Anyone know what this is?

What is this? Owner says it has been attached for years. It's on one side only, a metal "pole" that curves underneath the bumper, and is attached to the chassis horizontally into a 'slot'.

    I have no idea.

    Car is a V6 2003 model.

Old school antenna bracket, or a parking pole to let the owners (that are usually older generation) have a little pole so they can see where the front of the car is.. Head down your local RSL or bowls club and you're sure to see one.

Good idea, but it is more sturdy than just for a parking pole. They are always very flimsy.

None of the antenna brackets that I can find attach like this. They are either on the bull bar, or side of the bonnet.

Anyone else ever seen this? It's on one side only, and curves underneath the bumper to attach into a slot in the chassis horizontally.

Left over from a nudge bar and the other side was removed?

Maybe, but I couldn't find any picture of a nudge bar that looks remotely like it online:

Here it's attached to the chassis. Seems to be made for it:

Still don't know what it is?

Possibly a mount for an HF radio antenna.

Shitty bracket and welds, I'm still going with my original guess. If you don't need it unbolt it and bin it..

Yeah - definitely a home made Antenna mount point. For a sizeable HF / UHF antenna.

Ok, thank! I have a feeling the car has been used offroad a fair bit over the years, so might have been used for some mining work or something.

Yes, unbolting and binning was the first thing I did when I got the car!

                  Thanks all.

Or maybe a bracket to mount a pole to roof height to carry long lengths of pipes. I had similar on a ute few years back as carrying copper pipe etc need support to stop the "bounce"

HF antennae mount. Home made and probably fit for that purpose but not rated for anything else. Looks dangerous, glad to hear you removed it.
