rear window noise

Hi
Just a question on lowering your rear window whilst travelling above 80k.
Mine sounds like a "flat tire" - in fact i pulled over thinking thats what had happened. Harmonics and body sudder occured.
Spoke to my dealer and they said that happens with the wagons and theres nothing they can do about it. Seems strange you cannot use the rear windows?.
Has anyone else noticed this problem - is the dealer right or is it my new machine only?

Interested to hear if anyone else has mentioned it to toyota.

Hi stephen61.

I think you will find this in most wagons.
I remember getting yelled at as a little tacker in the back of dads wagon.

If all other windows are up and you only lower a rear window you will get thumping, hurts the ears too . so now I know what mum n dad were on about.

We had a mitsubishi starwagon, (big interior like the prado) and I think that was worse. But if you lower a front window as well it is OK.
It removes the pressure etc.

you'll find quite a few cars do it... wagons are worse.. there's a few threads on here already about the ear shattering sound it delivers....

Having never owned a wagon before i really didnt know if it was "normal". It really is one heck of a racket.

Thankfully all my 4wd is done from the front seat
