OMG, I used to own a 60 series rust bucket, the hours spent on that thing and its rusty roof, now I have to worry about my Prado.
As soon as it's daylight I'll take a look at mine2[FONT=Arial Narrow]008 Prado GXL D4D Auto with Prado Pack

Yep, bita rust there, bubbling under the paint in some spots, didn't remove the rubber yet to look all around but I bet it's similar to you guys. I have a grey greasy substance as a sealer, seems to have slowed up the rust in my case (07/08 model). The rubber has a mix of water, mud, and grease. I'll clean it up, rust convert the small spots, paint and then seal the rubber seal outside all round, but I'll leave the inner part of the seal alone I think.
I've just been to Woollongong ARB and across the car park was Super Cheep Autos. I have purchased some windscreen sealant, rust converter and some spray undercoat. I still need to find some matching body paint but not too concerned seeing as it's out of sight anyways.Last edited by peril; 13-07-2013, 04:40 PM.2[FONT=Arial Narrow]008 Prado GXL D4D Auto with Prado Pack

Yeah Buddy just slide the roof open say 3/4's of the way so you can see the front lip as per pictures. Then you will either see it if its bad enough or you may just have to pull the rubber edge back just to see as per second picture but don't pull back to far. The other way is to squeeze the rubber between your fingers and you will feel it crumbling if its rusted bad enough. Its just on a 3g repair if you drive in drive out with Toyota. I think the sunroof its self is about $1600 for memory (this is the glass section with rubber etc all as one piece) the rest is labour. They don't all rust as plenty on here with grande's and no issues but the 5 I looked at prior to buying my GXL had it so I stopped looking at the grande's and there were no vx's around at the time in my price range.... Hopefully your clear, its only a 2 minute check.......Cheers SteveFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. No mods yet

And your is an 09 model, wow didn't think it would be affecting them at that age. Got all mine done and finished now and sealed up under top lip of rubber to stop water running down as sujjested on here. It won't rust now in the time I will have it for. Bad design by Toyota....
