  • Side Bars and Steps Need HELP!!!!

    Hi All,

    Need some quick help please!

I had some custom side steps and brush bars fitted yesterday, overall they did a great job, except i think the steps are too wide.

They have told me its standard to make the steps wide than the outermost wheel flare, does this sound right?

I am concerned that the additional width will be more of a hindrance than a help off roading.

I have a week to return them and would appreciate any guidance here.

Will get some photos posted as soon as I figure out how too

That sounds normal Telestef. My aftermarket steps are wider that Toyota original sidesteps. The ONLY issue I have is that you have to step farther away from the car when getting out. They are wider to protect your panels and flares. they are designed to take a little bit of scrapes etc instead of your car. Thats one thing Toyota aluminium/plastic sidesteps cant do without bending.
SSSHHHH be very very quiet were huntin wabbits.

yes they are meant to be wider than the original steps.

mine are 10mm wider than the tyres, and they work great when your up against an embankment
