  • Bung it in or out

    Hi all

Being a noob about the prado I was hoping someone will help out. I was repairing/ straightening the side steep on the weekend and noticed both bungs under the car adrift. the bungs are inline with the mid mounting bracket for the side steps, inside it would line up with the pillar / rear mounting for driver and passenger seats.

It was seated this way when I found it loose

Now the problem is which is the best way to keep the water and dust out of the cabin, I've now put them in like this, opposite to how I found it. Glad I did find them before any water crossing.
    Cleaned and position this way

I put them in this way thinking it would be better keeping water out, since in the original way they had already moved, any thoughts

Sorry about the low quality pics only had a mobile phone

    Cheers

Yeah, one of mine has gone AWOL. I've whacked some tape over the hole.

Toyota can replace it at next service.

With the way you found the bung, pushed into the cabin, if the bung is hit by a stick or whatever and is dislodged then it will still be in the cabin to be refitted; with the way you have fitted (as far as I can tell from photo) you have fitted it from the bottom up, if it gets hit by a stick in this case it will be left on the track somewhere and will never rejoin your car again.Hope this makes sense

FC Holden, I thought along the lines of keeping water out, position it the same as a plug in a sink, hard for the water to push into the cabin. Probably taking the easy way out is not the best option, job for tomorrow do it right first not second time, seal it like previous post and position the from the inside
