  • Rear brake inballance

    Hi guys took my Prado for its inspection and came up brake inballance, the rear drivers side is out.
    How do I fix this??
    Do I adjust the dial at the rear disc if so how do I do this??

    More info explanation required.

    Rebuild calipers? Maybe the piston is sticking, more likely the slides.
    That is if it is at the Caliper, it could be a master cylinder issue.
    Unusal.

      I would not adjust the dial at the rear disc....that's not what its for. A friendly, honest comment...based on your post where it seems to me that you may not know what the dial does, I would definitely take the car to a trusted mechanic...brakes are a very important safety item (as you know), but the issue with an imbalance in brake force can mean your car get get seriously sideways when braking, especially in the wet or under emergency braking.
      It may well be a leaking/sticking brake caliper piston, or sticking caliper slides, but it could be many things.
      You seem keen to do things yourself, (like I do), so what I did was find a mechanic/diesel fitter who would coach/teach/show me while they did work on my car...it was fantastic, and there are now certain servicing items that I now undertake myself with confidence. Let us know how you get on.

        I forgot to mention it's nothing to do with the foot pedel the inballance is when the handbrake is being applied.
        I've done all my brakes before and adjusted handbrakes on all my Toyota vehicles before. Since I've bought this Prado ive had quite a few issues that I've found and fixed that the previous owners have stuffed up from the simplest things like anti rattle clips missing on all 4 calapers.

            Imbalance.

            noun1.the state or condition of lacking balance, as in proportion or distribution.

            "InBallance" would imply they are balanced, even to the point the extra "L" allows for an "a" and an "l" for each side with a "b" on the left and a "d" on the right.
