Can anyone advise,or, had a similar issue, do I need another bearing assy, but making sure it's the right one this time.

Has the cable to the sensor been checked? The are relatively delicate and often get damaged during suspension installs if stretched too far or kinked.


Do you have the part number of the bearings you had fitted?

I have not got the part No anymore, but the difference in part No's between ABS & non ABS is one didgit which is halfway through the No. As for the cable no I haven't checked that yet but I will check that out.
Looking at the drawing of the hub assy I must have been supplied the wrong assy, the parts co-ordinator confirmed the right one was ordered, but can't check if the right one was supplied.

Bit of an old thread,

Usually, I don't see or hear about big numbers of wheel bearings failing on Prados.
Wheel bearing = front, as the rear is an axle bearing.

Recently I have seen & heard of a few, in a small workshop if I see a couple in a month, there's quite a few around likely on the way out.
so I'm just letting you know check your bearings.

When the wheel is off the ground, you shouldn't be able to get movement out of the bearing.
I have seen them with a bit & a lot. A bit, , it will likely have a slight noise when you spin it, not the pads dragging, not the c/v click, another dry bearing noise.
it's time to get a new bearing assy fitted, if you find this, it's easier & cheaper to do before it gets worse.
If you ave a lot of play, it's URGENT, get it changed before it collapses & kills someone or does other damage like taking out an abs sensor to say the least.

There's plenty of brands out there competing with Toyo, yes koyo bearing will be one of the best.
Genuine are usually nsk, anther top jap brand & some ate failing early.

I have used a bearing from bearing wholesalers, if they put their name on it, I thought it should be ok, time will tell.

#### found my front right bearing knackered yesterday, lots of movement (see video), no symptoms while driving yet....

I just bought a replacement bearing kit (includes bearing, seals and a O ring) from Don Kyatt for $175
Pedders South Melbourne said they will install it for $220

The cheap bearings from bearing wholesalers & the like, did not work out. Binned!
Been using koyo brand & so far so good, top brand so lets see.

Go to CBC Bearings. They have kits for just about everything.
