Ive had my eye on these recently. have emailed the guy a couple of times and seems like a good operator. interested to know how well the buy goes. (just need to find some discs too- can't believe some of the prices going at shops :shock: )

These are a good buy.
Prices vary on this stuff so much. We recently replaced my brothers VX brakes and here were the prices from Perth Brake Parts.
We just went std rotors with Bendix pads and there was a 100% improvement.
Front Rotors
DBA 2700 (Plain) - $82 ea
DBA 2700 SL - $147 ea
DBA 2700 SR - $147 ea
Rear Rotors
DBA 793 (Plain) - $49 ea
DBA 793 SL - $130 ea

2 Million $ worth of fake brand name parts have been seized at the wharfs so far this year, inc Toyota oil filters, and radiators, just make sure what you get is the genuine item, as the brake pads they seized contained compressed grass, which can catch on fire, if the brake pads get hot.
ARB lockers have also been found to have been targeted by chinese copies this year.
They estimate its a $2 billion a yr market, selling fake branded goods.

I wouldn't suggest doing that with brand new pads and rotors, they need bedding in, but if you did 3 x 100 -> 0 kph stops on the old gear and then did the same once the new kit is bedded in it could be a worthwhile exercise.
There might be an improvement with the pads alone, but I'd hope the DBA rotors deliver better fade resistance to the Prado.

yeah good idea. front pads are on their last legs, discs are warped. rear pads are 50%, discs ok. so not the most effective braking setup. just have to find a suitable stretch of road... will let you know.[size=2][color=#00BF40][b]2003 120 GXL V6 auto[/b]. To me this sort of test is only half of it...don't get me wrong I'm not trying to undermine anyone but brake fade is rarely going to be a problem that can be fixed by a pad / rotor change alone. (When I say this I'm compring new vs. new)
I find the initial 'bite' of a pad is far more relevant on the street as most accident / undie colouring events are usually caused by us not hitting the brakes hard enough in the intial stages of braking and I think this is where the bendix pads will really shine.
After having just changed out of a a FPV with 6 pot Brembos and 4 pots at the rear I can say that the Prado brakes are rubbish. They're undersized for the weight of the car and pad choice was most likely based around dust/squeel concerns.
After pads I'd suggest concentrating on fluids and airflow over rotors as the benefits will be minimal...especially if you're thinking cross drilled etc is going to be your saviour. They look great but are banned from high end motorsport because they are prone to cracking and breaking in two. Slotter is a much safer / equivalent choice.
Not trying to put a dampener on anyones rig..just don't be dissappointed if you get all the go fast gear only to find that it's marginally better than std.
For me it will be Bendix / Ferodo pads and stock style rotors.

Will look up the specs in the CAMS manual re the class(es) of car they are banned from. My car was obtaining its CAMS licence when the official was commenting on my brakes and how they're only allowed for 'low end' stuff due to reliability issues.
I'd also re-think the 'mass' theory. Unsprung weight is a killer and more is definately worse, in every instance. CAMS will list rotor upgrades as modifications, and not allow you to change from standard in an 'unmodified' class. This is not banning crossdrilled discs, it's keeping cars in line with their original specs.
Unsprung weight is already out of control on the Prado, I wouldn't be getting too worried about that. A bit of extra rotor mass may reduce the max temperature attained and therefore leave a bit of headroom for the next stop is all I am saying.

I just ordered some of these of eBAY. You have to be careful as there are some cheaper brand pads being sold using the same part numbers as the Bendix ones. They even reference Bendix in the add, telling you to go to their site to veirfy part numbers. But then in the fineprint you see they are actually selling a different brand.
This guy, http://myworld.ebay.com.au/onlineautopart/, clearly states they are Bendix, so I am hoping they are.
I have booked the car in to get all the discs machined, and they said they will fit my pads for free, and flush the fluid = $150.
I am expecting it to be heaps better!
